|

Hi all,
After several months of faultless operation, my TT3.03 has started displaying a Fatal Application Error on start up.
'Application Tom Tom Navigator.exe has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
Program: Tom Tom Navigator.exe
Exception 0xc0000005
Address: 00113540'
I have tried soft resets, uninstalling TTN and re installing it, but stll get the same thing.
Any ideas before I go for a hard reset?
And while I am on, can someone remind me how to hard reset an IPAQ3970?
Thanks in advance

I had this on my 3850 once. Went for the hard reset in the end and sorted it. Also reloaded maps, where I think the error actually was. To hard reset, hold the two outside buttons down while pressing the reset button.

Usually when I have had just such a warning, each time it is down to either the SD card I was using (ejected/re-inserted card) or a corrupt POI or bitmap on the card. Takes a bit of investigating but I'm sure the problem lies on the media (I'm assuming your using a card of some sort).
I went through a hard reset/re-install when I first had this problem, only to find it was still there when i finished, never thought of the card until later.

Address: 00113540 | Have you added any new POI files (or synced any, or updated any) recently?
I normally find that this happens if I try to install a number of new POI files - I then move the files out of the map directory, and add them back one at a time starting and shutting down TomTom each time.
Eventually I will either find the one at fault, or all will be fine, and they all work (yeah, I know, but it often happens).
If you find the problem one, try downloading again, or if not ask here to see if there is a known problem (eg problem with the icon).
If you've not added any new ones, try moving the POI files in batches of say 5 or 10 out of the map directory until it works, and then move them back one by one (starting and exiting TTN each time) to find the corruption. |

Thanks for your comments guys.
I haven't added any POI recently - don't know how to or really understand this stuff.
So I did the hard reset and installed TTN3.03 again - and its working fine now.
Thanks again
