From TomTom
Quote:
Dear Matthew ,
Your Map Update Service expired on 15-02-2014 . And we’d like to offer you a special autumn deal to help you get back up to date.

Renew your Map Update Service before the 23rd September, and we’ll give you a full 50% off. ...

Not sure if I should renew at half price, given I don't know what I'll be using in the future...

I received a similar offer but have a different time warp issue to you. Mine still cited "renew before 23rd September" but the email arrived on the 5th October. Ho hum.

You think you've got time warp? How about this...

Top right - Current time
Next down - Distance to destination
Next down - ETA at destination.

Nah. It's the latest thing in Renaults, built in R-Link multimedia system with TomTom satnav with 12 month old maps and the 60 days map update doesn't work (didn't work, the 60 days was up a week ago!) and no facility to add my own POIs other than to create them manually one at a time. System price option is £810 including VAT, map updates (which aren't available right now due to download problems) at the usual built in prices which I won't be paying (bought a PND with lifetime free maps and three years Live services for £250 instead).

It has an App store (as in Apple App Store and Google whatsername) which currently has eight (that's 8, as in EIGHT) apps. Rolling Eyes There's a clock to display instead of the satnav map, an app to remind you to take a break after 2 hours driving, some games to keep the kids amused during long journeys (but only playable when parked), subscription to Live Services, maps for Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Taiwan, Emergency assistance (It dials 112, probably takes five button clicks instead of pushing 112 on your phone - presumably the vehicle has to be stable and engine running for this to work, notalotta use if you've crashed into a lake) and that's about the lot - what you'd call "much vaunted" I think.
