Glad you could do it, I went through the thread and couldn't find anything I understood.
But I did see that this site has MD POI files for download and I cannot find them either, I would appreciate a link to the files.
Thanks

Have you paid and subscribed? Without that you cannot download the database.
I simply followed the instructions in one of this thread's pages. But sure about other pois. |

No I have not subscribed as I do not want Speed Cameras etc, I want specialist data like Auto Repairs, Specialist Shops, Public Toilets, Rest Areas, etc. and I guess none of those are available for MB.

Hi All, im new to all this but just wanted to share my joy regarding the POI download to my Command system. It works perfectly. I also see that I can "check" audible warnings on personal POIs, they work even if you are not on the Navigation screen, you just get a polite "ding" as you approach.
Fantastic guys, keep up the great work! |

Hi All,
My dad has a UK 2012 CLS 63 AMG, I have been updated the speed camera POI's for several months and its been great for him.
However, trying to get the audible warning to work. Obviously I know since this is a UK system and MB don't have it enabled by default. During the last update I attempted to use the MB POI Loader without success. Instead I manually opened the .gpx files and carried out a Find and Replace for Level="information" to Level="warning". The car hasn't been driven since it was updated so I'm not sure if it will work....I doubt it though but it's worth a shot.
I see some of you who have a 2013 MB NTG 4.5 have the option to "check" the audible warning whereas all I see is Visual warning. I am wondering if anyone has tried going into the Comand Engineering Menu to find a parameter to enable which would allow it to work, seeing as it is still NTG 4.5?
Thanks in advance. |

Hi Guys,
I got a 2009 Dec E class with Comand module. I am looking for speed camera as I do 1000miles a week. Can someone guide me to a sample / any kind of poi file which I can use to test that import works in my car before sub here and getting full list?
Thanks in advance. |

Hi all,
My first post so go easy.
I recently subscribed and downloaded the MB comand files.
I followed the instructions at the start of this thread.
I loaded the files to the car from the sd card.
Everything went smoothly and the camera icons are showing on the map.
However it gave me other options not mentioned here.
It gave me the option to enable an audible warning which i did.
It gave me the option to alter the distance for the various warnings which I left unchanged.
I have yet to test it on the road.
My car is an E class May 2013 facelifted version. Not sure exactly which comand version I have but it must be the latest-its called comand on line.
I just loaded this at 4 am when I came off the night shift and will report further details when I have evaluated it on the road.
regards,
Michael.

Tested further .It works perfectly in my MB.
When approaching a gatso or redlight camera or a possible mobile camera lacation the radio mutes for a second and a gong sounds then the radio comes back on.
This happens even when not navigating as long as the nav is on ie map on screen.
The various symbols are perfectly displayed too.
Many thanks to all who made this possible.
I suppose the next development would be a voice warning "gatso ahead" or "redlight camera ahead" or "possible mobile camera ahead".
Also it would be nice if instead of radius location where it gives alerts on nearby roads if it were to function on route only as Tomtom does.
Howver as it is it works well and gives ample warning of all known cameras and possible mobile cameras,
Many thanks,
Michael[/b] |

I have successfully installed the GPX cameras and see the fixed and mobile cameras on the European mapping. I was surprised that, despite this siite info that audible warnings are not available, I have the option, and they work, providing a "bong" noise when approaching cameras. The warnings are sufficiently in advance of static Gatso and similar fixed cameras (about 100yds ahead) but unfortunately they are similarly announced for mobile sites, which would be far too late for most users.
Can the warnings be written in the programming to come up sooner? |

Hi,
The command loaded the files ok and I get the warning bong.
I do not have the speed graphic for the static camera locations just
a picture of a "camera"
The locations are incorrect by about 50 yards ( ahead)
The bong can be turned off for the mobile cameras as the pocketgps file has
two download files for each category, just untick audible warnings for the mobile sites in the command settings / audible section.
Why is the position of the camera so far out and why can I not see the speed of the static camera ( I can see this on the Kenwood in-car system on my other car )
Cheers |

In what way is the location wrong? This is the same position data that others have, you can check the location on our master submission map. If the system shows it in a different place then I don't know why that is.
And the camera speed limit is a function of the Consolidated by Type and Speed Zoned database data only. You would need to be using one of those database versions and your system would need to support custom icons.
Few in-dash systems have such support. They all lag far behind the abilities of most portable devices and smartphone apps. _________________ Darren Griffin |

All the cameras are located on the map about 50 yards ahead of the actual road position for each and every camera.
Thanks for the update regarding the speed rating. |
