|
|
I have been experimenting with the voice commands and in about 20 attempts to get it to "Drive/navigate to Sutton upon Derwent" it has never got it right and usually insists that I have said "Take me to the nearest swimming pool." I have tried to change my voice and at times sounded a bit like a Dalek but it refuses to understand me. Is it because I'm from up North?
Does anyone have a voice it understands? _________________ Bazzza

Well, try speaking English and do NOT shout at it - it likes you to speak softly.
Mind you East Yorkshire is rubbish dialect - move west, young man to the West Riding!
I posted years ago how they should handle this speech recognition - simply have one command to start listening, then number every menu option and do a few training runs to get it to recognise your particular way of saying "five", etc, then away you go. But TT never read that sort of stuff and if they ever do, they discount it as unhelpful. At the very least, I could never understand why they didn't incorporate speech recognition training - that sort of thing was introduced at least 20 years ago with the earlier word processors (I remember one of our IT people demonstrating it to me back in the eighties). _________________ Dennis

Ahl 'ave thee noo am frum Barnsley! I 'avnt allus lived int sticks!
However it seems to me that the TT testers must be very easily satisfied. The voice recognition performance is pathetic. TT aren't going to take any notice of you. After all what does a mere customer know about what is satisfactory. Voice commands are only on there to inflate the price and help sell it; surely you don't expect it to actually work??? _________________ Bazzza

I've never managed to get voice recognition to work properly on ANY TomTom model.
Simple things like "volume up" sometimes work ok, but trying to get it to understand an address usually end up with me wanting to throw it out of the window, and great hilarity from my wife as I get more and more annoyed with it. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Give the man a cigar and a coconut - would have been a toffee apple too if he'd said pronounced Ustrad Munuch. _________________ Dennis
