Having just installed the cameralert database on my 2013 vauxhall antara (touch & connect) I have a couple of questions.
Can I have "voice warnings"?
Should the camera locations be represented by an icon on the map?
I'm a tad concerned that the current warning isn't sufficient enough. It doesn't help that the Antara sat nav is located so low but all I get is a visual warning & a little "blip".
I'll also add that I'm almost completely new to this sat nav thingy!!
Any help greatly appreciated. |

I don't think you can. It's a limitation of the device itself though - if they added the functionality then we could provide the data they require for it...

Thanks MaFt.
Do the alerts work when just in "map" mode or do you have to actually set a route? |

Hi ChumBucket, The trouble is that there are just so many types of SatNavs pre-installed into cars these days to know the intricacies of each model.
If the SatNav manufacturers kept to their original OS's, but they don't or if the car manufacturers kept to the same manufacturer, but they don't, we would half half a chance of answering your question. If it is possible it appears that they continuously limit the functions of the pre-fitted SatNAvs so that you are compelled to go back to them to add extra features. At a feature rich price of course.
At this stage, you would probably be best to read a Vauxhal Antara Forum and hopefully somebody else has had the same questions as you and solved them. Alternatively, keep trying different methods yourself and when you have cracked it, impart your knowledge here and you shall become the site's Vauxhaul Antara Guru.
Sorry, but that is the best I can advise. _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

People in this thread in the Antara Owners Club forum were discussing installing the PGPSW cameras and other POIs, so it may be a good place to ask your questions.
Don't forget to report back if you get any information that may help other Antara owners. _________________ Anita

Thanks for the replies people, much appreciated.
I've been up & down the A1 today visiting friends & so have had a good play.
I can report that I DO have camera icons on screen for each camera placement & the cameralert DOES work in both route AND map mode.
I would "ideally" like a voice warning but the blip & visual text display is sufficient for the time being.
All in all, now I've had a couple of days to absorb something new to me I'm quite impressed. Only had the new car a month & the wife got 3 points & a £60 fine on the very first day of ownership!!!!!!! So, should be £20 well spent I think!! |
