|
|
I'm hoping someone can help me please!
I have TomTom GO 910 as my main sat nav and carry a 710 as a backup should my 910 fail.
Some years back the rubber grommet fell out of the back of my 910 and I couldn't find it anywhere (This is the tiny little rubber cushion/foot/grommet that fits just above the docking shoe hole on the pointed part at the back of the unit).
This caused my GO 910 to rattle on the windscreen mount, so reluctantly I "borrowed" the grommet from my backup GO 710.
A few days ago my 910 started to rattle again on the windscreen mount and I discovered that the rubber grommet had gone missing again.
So now I have both TomTom's with rubber grommets missing :-(
Apart from rattling and shaking excessively up and down, it also causes them to intermittently disconnect from the external GPS antenna, RDS-TMC adaptor and power.
I've spent hours searching my car high and low and can't find it anywhere :-(
I have even employed my kids to try and find it with a prize for the finder, but no luck.
I've remove parts of my ventilation system and dashboard, hoping it may have fallen inside but found nothing apart from lots of dust and dead bugs.
Unfortunately TomTom don't support these devices anymore
I've tried TomTom in the Netherland, eBay, I've tried a number of suppliers of TomTom spare parts and TomTom repairers (including Regenersis) but I just can't get my hands on any
If anyone knows where I could obtain a few I'd be so appreciative
Many thanks,

Those grommetswere always really hardto get hold of, even when thosemodels were new. So TBH, I think your best bet is to give up hoping for the real grommets and concentrate on trying to think what you could use instead.
If you armed yourself with a craft knife and a small lump of rubber, what do you reckon your chances would be? _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-)

Thanks for all your help guys
After racking my brains, I plan to use a 5mm black rubber bead (used for fishing) as an alternative (and hopefully elegant) solution.
I've ordered the beads, so I'll let you know ASAP if it works. _________________ 🔸🔸 Currently using TomTom GO 940 & Locus Map 🔸🔸 |

Success!!!
I called TomTom Business Solutions last week and spoke to a very nice lady who recalled seeing a bag of rubber grommets in their office a few years back.
After a quick search she found them and said she would pop some in the post for me... an envelope from the Netherlands arrived today with a handful of rubber grommets inside
Thank you TomTom and everyone for their help and suggestions
P.S. A 6mm black rubber bead (used for carp fishing as a shock absorber) works well as a replacement grommet.
The little hole that goes through the middle of the bead will allow you to glue a non-metallic pin through the hole on the inside of the rear case, so no modification or gluing to the rear cover is required _________________ 🔸🔸 Currently using TomTom GO 940 & Locus Map 🔸🔸 |

I've super glued the beasties in now, so they're not going anywhere in a hurry _________________ 🔸🔸 Currently using TomTom GO 940 & Locus Map 🔸🔸 |
