If you have CA set up to run your sat nav app, including Sygic in the foreground you always have to close CA after you exit the sat nav app, otherwise it keeps running in the background. AFAIK that applies to all sat nav apps. . _________________ Peter

It is now admitted (at last) by Sygic that it can leave stuff running after it (Sygic) has been exited. |

After a few trials of different startup routines, I think I have found a relatively foolproof routine. (At least on HTC Desire HD)
1. DO NOT use the 'On Startup Also Run' feature in CA. For me this always got me stuck in a loop whereby TomTom would immediately restart after exiting.
2. Start up CA first
3. Start TomTom
Everything works as it should. Only on rare occasions do I get the problem of CA continuing to run in background after exit but its easy to see when this happens by seeing the camera icon and getting CA to exit again
Would love to see a cure for the 'On Startup Also Run' problem. It would certainly make life easier for regular use. |

yes, the version that is currently in testing will reduce that "feature" to "happens only rarely" status. We can't promise it to go away altogether because as MaFt already mentioned we're fighting the Android system here (Think Don Quixote and wind mills). When we tell our service to exit, the Android OS notices and thinks "Ohh, a foregrouind service just terminated, let me quickly restart it before anyone notices". And then we hae to politely explain to the OS that yes, the service termination was intentional. A few times. _________________ Lutz

I know this is an old thread but...
I've tried every which way to run CamerAlert for Android with Tomtom for Android on my Samsung Galaxy Note2 and cannot get any real success.
I try running CA first but as soon as I press the Home button in order to run TT the system ditches CA. The icons in the notification bar disappear.
If I run TT first I can then run CA in the foreground at the same time. I know TT is still working because I can hear the TT instructions while looking at the CA screen.
It seems as though the 'Prevent Standby' feature is not working for me on my Note2.
Any suggestions or is this just a problem with the Note2 when using CA? _________________ Bruce

Have you tried running TomTom by starting it from CamerAlert? _________________ Lutz

lbendlin wrote: | Have you tried running TomTom by starting it from CamerAlert? | Yes and I had the same problem as other people have reported, Tomtom runs and CA is dumped but when I try to exit TT it runs CA presumably which restarts TT again. I end up with no way back into CA to cancel the 'Run From CA' command. I then have to uninstall CA to revert to normal. _________________ Bruce

Is it possible that your phone is configured to prevent multitasking? _________________ Lutz

My phone can multitask ok because it can run TT in the background and CA in the foreground.
I'm not even sure how I could prevent it from multitasking! _________________ Bruce

Unfortunately we don't have a Note 2 here for testing that. Any other Note 2 owners who can confirm the behaviour? _________________ Lutz

I found out how to cure it but don't know why.
I did a factory reset and it all worked as it should. First thing I installed after the usual Google stuff was CA. It worked pefectly and since then I have been reinstalling my apps and checking for problems as I go. Found nothing so far.
Taken 12 hours so far. _________________ Bruce
