As I only use my 950 a few times a year I am thinking of just getting the RDS-TMC traffic info. What would be the best way, buy the Traffic Receiver cable or buy the active mount with it built in? Any advice would be appreciated. _________________ TomTom 500, 2GB, App. 7.903,(9183/081205 OS 2344 Map:United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland V900.4602

I have the active mount and it seems to work fine.
The aerial cable is a lot thinner and shorter, so is less obtrusive. but the tiny windscreen sucker on the end if it has never worked at all. I just leave it loose at the back of the dashboard. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Does the RDS-TMC work on a Live device? I know mine (active mount, built-in RDS-TMC) connects when I first switch on, but it quickly disconnects as soon as the live thingy starts looking for the server. I had thought it would reconnect when the Live server drops off, but it doesn't seem to - and I've been losing the server an awful lot recently. _________________ Dennis

I haven't used it for ages, but if I remember rightly it works if (a) you don't have a current LIVE subscription, and (b) SHOULD cut in if you lose connection to the LIVE Server.
But I seem to remember there was some confusion over whether it cut in only when you lost GSM signal coverage, or only when the TT server was down, or both.
I know it DOES cut in if you do some internal surgery and pull the SIM card out completely.... _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Before they had international roaming my 940 used to run on the TMC in France with no changes made. I seem to remember thinking it was not very good. _________________ Drivelux |
