|I am trying to connect my HP2210 to the internet. I go to the connections & find no mention of a broadband connection just a modem or generic. They both ask for a tele number . Which doesnot apply. I have spent a number of hours on this as I am trying to use Checkpoint. I can not get a connection. I have done I think as told. My server is NTLworld. I am totally confused. Please someone help me in plain language
Thanks

If you are trying to do this in the cradle, then forget about the dial-up connections, all you need setup is in ActiveSync TOOLS | OPTIONS | RULES and under the Pass Through section make sure CONNECTION is set to The Internet.
You should then be able to bring up Pocket IE and browse a website and it will use your existing PC internet connection as a bridge.
If this isn't working then there's several things that will cause this:-
1) A personal software firewall is installed and blocking ports
2) You are running ActiveSync 3.71. Downgrade to 3.7 or below |

You need to run the uninstall of ActiveSync in Add/Remote programs on the PC, then download ActiveSync 3.6 from here.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/wce/downloads/acsync36.mspx
It's a known issue that Microsoft broke third party app support in 3.7+. I don't know for sure if this is what's causing your problem as usually it's desktop apps having problems connecting to the PPC, but in theory it's doing the same thing in the opposite direction so I would think it's probably this that's broken.
Beware you'll have to re-setup your ActiveSync settings and may depending on how you have ActiveSync setup, you may find you get duplicate contacts. |

I have sorted it myself. Still cannot connect to the net though. I had to reinstall from the HP disc I got with my 2210 to get active sync working again.
Any other suggestions about connecting to the web would bw appreciatedThanks

Yes, you'll need to downgrade ActiveSync.
The version I'm running is 3.7 Build 3083 and this works fine.
ActiveSync 3.7 is available here. |
