I have a Garmin nuvi1490 and obviously I am doing something wrong but I can't get ANY GPS cameras and voice prompts to go into it. I've tried the instructions on the site to no avail, and my question is that and knowing that I am not a computer geek can someone explain it in language that I understand how to do it. I never had a problem with TomToms in the past but their maps are so out of date (I've lived in my new house 18 months & the latest TT map does not have it on) Thats the reason I went for the Garmin. I go to Scotland on the 13th and it would be good to be up to date.
Many thanks, themadpanner. |

If so at what stage does the 'no avail' raise its ugly head, or what bit(s) don't you understand? Answering these questions will probably help a Garmin expert help you get them working. |

Yes these are the instructions I've tried but I don't understand the computer enough to load them and where to put them. Sorry but nothing wants to happen. |

Please don't read this condescending but the instructions do assume a fairly basic knowledge of computer skills and as you seem to be having problems understanding/carrying out the instructions, do you not know someone who is a little more computer savvy than you to give you a hand?
Alternatively, but it will take a lot longer, if you can tell us exactly which stage(s) of the install instructions that you don't quite get, someone here will probably help you out, but you must also tell us the bits that you do understand/can do to avoid 're-inventing the wheel'. Use the headings and para. numbers in the instructions as a reference. |
