Just updated my 750 Live and down loaded the map -- OK apart from the time taken it went reasonably well..
However trying -- still - since this morning - to download the map for the 740 Live nothing but problems..
The map seemed to come down very quickly compared with the 750 -- but the the installation -- is taking hours -- literally -- and the blue line creeps across slowly until the last millimetre then it fails -- with a fault that requires to send information to Windows ? and shuts down Tom-Tom Home..
The map I am trying to install is Europe V905.4754 copying it to the memory card in the device..
As it must have down loaded I thought there might have been a fault in the download -- so I went into Manage My Device -- found the map on the device [marked in red saying partial download - download again] and deleted it.
Just trying again it has downloaded --[very quickly -- zap done!] and now it is installing to memory card - blue line about 3/4 of the way across.
But have had this before it goes to the last mm and then fails..
Any ideas

Do both appear in the "Switch map" menu?
If they do, then try switching to the new one.
If that works, it will be safe to delete the old one (check to see if your POIs etc have been transferred across first though). _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

They do both appear on the "switch Map" and I tried the new one -- unfortunately it is Empty of all the previous settings like favourites , destinations and poi's etc..
I did check the version and it was the latest one on the check version screen.
Even don't have my "home" and would have to set all that again..
So switched back to the old one and they are all there.
So will use that for now.
Hope that there is a way of using t??

First back up everything as it is now (by copy and pasting the entire TomTom memory into a new folder on your PC.
Then, on the TomTom itself (using Windows Explorer) find every .ov2 file and every .bmp file in the old map folder and copy and paste them into the new map folder.
That will restore all your POIs
To restore all your Favourites and recent destinations etc. try this (it usually works but might not)
Find the 'mapsettings.cfg' or 'MapSettings.cfg' file in the old map folder and copy it into the new map folder.
That should do it, but if, when you switch the unit on it does not start up properly, just reconnect to the PC and remove that file from the new map folder again. Than ask here for plan B, which is a bit more complicated! _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |
