|
|
Hi Folks, there hasn’t been many recent updates on the Becker Map Pilot and speed camera database working together for a while that I can see, has anyone got any further with getting the POI database to work on this abysmal sat nav yet?
I am somewhat Irritated with Mercedes charging an arm and a leg for a satnav that isn’t as good or user friendly as even my first TT Go back in 04! It’s a clumsy user interface which I don’t believe the manufacturers have looked at what the likes of TT can do for a fifth of the cost! |

I think most built in Sat Nav systems are guilty of being under spec'd & over priced _________________ Galaxy Note 4 / TomTom GO : CamerAlert : CoPilot |

I've just bought a used Becker Map Pilot off ebay to try in my C-class.
Been with a TomTom 720 for a few years so hoping I get on ok with the Becker !
I would like to use the pocketgps speed cams in the Map Pilot - what info/screenshots of the file system etc can we provide which may help get the pocketgps speed cams onto it ? |

I have a sneaky suspicion that the Becker is iGO. Has it got folders in the Satnav root named Audio and Content. And is there a folder named CONTENT\Map and CONTENT\VOICE. (plus a few others)? |

I don't think so.
Viewing the device in windows explorer off the root there are the following 4 folders:
APD
Manua
MapRegionsPSF50
Navi
Then looking in the Navi Folder the following folders are present:
Font
GUI
Licenses
MapConfigs
Materials
Models
POI
RES
ROADICON
Settings
Skin400x240
Sound
Speech
StateMachine
TTI
Vocalizer
Within the POI folder there are the following folders:
1
2
5
Default
plus lots of png graphics files called crosshair, favourite, flags, icons_pin, etc, etc
Within each of the folders 1, 2, 5 there are a couple of PCB files called
GeneralPOIs.pcb
Generic.pcb
Haven't tried creating my own POIs yet but will interesting to see if this creates a new PCB file etc.
Hope the above helps identify what the Map Pilot is and how we can add the pocketgps speed cams to it as POI's ? |

Then it appears that it's not iGO. But I haven't a clue what it might be |

I can't see a way of creating/entering your own custom POI's when using the device in the car.
Looks like we may be snookered in terms of adding the speed cams POI database to the Becker Map Pilot |

Looking at a few german forums they think the Becker Mp Pilot directory structure is very similar to GOPAL3, based on the Street Director of Elektrobit. |
