Just wondering how TomTom runs on the Nexus 7 since they upgraded the App. How does it compare to using a TomTom PND such as the 530? _________________ Andyfr |

It runs very well. The 7" form factor is the perfect compromise between the screen size of a PND and that of a large tablet. TomTom have re-jigged the app quite a bit compared to the PND and iOS version but it's all there and works fine. _________________ Darren Griffin |

That's good to know. Although I don't need to change now it's a thought for the future. I was thinking that I would be able to use it as an MP3 player as well as a Sat Nav and a few other things as well. Especially useful when we go to the US on holiday.
Of course I'm just trying to justify buying myself a toy! _________________ Andyfr |

I also have an iPad mini which I love. I'm using it for reading books, web browsing, forums, navigation in car and as my head-unit for music, podcasts etc.
For me, the form factor of these smaller tablets is perfect, large enough to be much nicer to use than a smartphone and small enough to be compact and portable. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Which is better the Nexus 7 or the Samsung Tab?
Presume the nexus as it has a faster processor? |

Nexus 7 if only because it is unadulterated Android and gets the updates years quicker. _________________ Darren Griffin |

I don't use my Nexus 7 for navigation but it's great for CamerAlert. I stopped using CA on my SGS3 because it conflicted with phone calls (I don't know if that problem was ever solved) but I place the N7 face down on a none-slip mat on the passenger seat with CA activated and it works a treat - volume levels are excellent & with the screen switches off it hardly uses any battery - highly recommended.
Both TomTom & Google Maps / Nav work very well on the Nexus 7 but the problems of physically mounting a tablet put me off experimenting further _________________ Galaxy Note 4 / TomTom GO : CamerAlert : CoPilot |

Plenty of mounts available, I'm using a Brodit Nexus 7 mount that has charging built-in, works superbly. _________________ Darren Griffin |
