|
|
Recently after upgrading my iPhone 4 to iOS6.0.1 from iOS5 the Cameralert app has been running exceptionally slowly. Alerts appear miles after the actual location of the camera. I use tomtom at the same time and never had a problem pre iOS6.
Is anyone else seeing this and is there a fix/works around? |

Does the TomTom lag as well, or is it just CA? |

Just as a check, would it be possible to see how CamerAlert goes when running by itself without TomTom also running?
Have you got anything else running at the same time - any one of which could be affecting the phone in general?
Just thinking "out loud".

I did a trial on the way home tonight, Nothing else running at all.
On its own it seems fine.
Running with TomTom it isn't.
TomTom on its own is also fine. TomTom doesn't lag with cameralert running.
One or the other or both might be loading the iphone up too much. |

I used both TT and CA on an iPhone 4 (currently on 4s) together with no issues for over a year.
Have tried restarting the phone?
Have you got many other apps running in the background? I regularly kill unused ones off. |

Yes. Reset the phone. First thing I tried. Also turned off all other background apps. |

Haven't seen any other reports of simalar problems.
Have you tried deleting the cameralert app and re downloading? |

No such issues here on an iPhone 4 either. How much free space do you have on the iPhone? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I have 6GB of free space.
I did another test today with tomtom and cameralert running together. If cameralert is running in the background it doesn't provide the alerts at the right time. If I bring camera alert to the foreground it then plays all the warnings from when it was put to the background one after the other.
So image I have driven past ten cameras and mobile locations it will play all of those sequentially without a break when the app is given foreground priority.
If cameralert is running in the foreground it runs fine.

The only thing I can suggest is you consider a restore. It may be an issue caused by the update to iOS6. It's not uncommon for weird issues to occur and a restore will force a reinstall of the latest OS and clean up of any old files and issues. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Did the restore. Still having problems.
When I switch from tomtom to cameralert I can see cameralert catching up. Interestingly the speed matches the actual speed I was travelling at and not a gazillion miles an hour so that tells me that cameralert has been processing the GPS information but mitt be presented from updating the GUI and playing sounds or showing events until it is given priority.
Perhaps there isn't enough processing power available under ios6 on the iPhone 4.
I also experience songs stopping randomly when played with tomtom and camera running. I get less drop outs without cameralert running.
I know you test cameralert around Fleet. I am local. Would someone at pocketgpsworld like to see this and is there anything I can do to help diagnose the problem? Logs etc?

It's odd as I have an iPhone 4 running iOS6 and have none of the issues you describe, and there are many others here running that spec too.
It might be useful to see your system, but it won't be until after Xmas, we all need a rest _________________ Darren Griffin |

Sure. After Christmas is good. Is your iPhone jail broken? Mine isn't. |
