|
|
I have an Hp h2210 with TomTom 3 and also the TomTom car kit. When I first put it all together it seemed to work. But after a rest of 2 weeks it failed to work. The PDA indicates satellites being tracked and there is the occasional instantaneous fix but then immediately lost. I have had the unit in the car for hours with good sat viz and it fails to compute a fix. I have corresponded with TomTom support but they have indicated to do the usual such as reload the latest version (3.03) and reset the PDA, etc. I have done all of these things and still no luck.
One observation is that the wired GPS unit has the green LED on all the time. I see that some messages indicate it should flash?
thanks..... |

that's right. If you have the TomTom serial GPS (Leadtek 9531) then a red flash indicates no fix and a green flash indicates a fix is found. Constant green is not a normal pattern... Have you tried factory resetting the GPS receiver? You can use Winfast Navigator for that. _________________ Lutz

The GPS receiver I have is the one packaged by TomTom - silver sort of diamond shape. Not sure who makes it for them. |

yes, that's the one. A rebadged Leadtek 9531. Should blink either red or green, should not show steady green. _________________ Lutz

Hi Lutz,
Have downloaded WinFast Navigator. Do I access the GPS receiver for a factory reset from the PC via the PDA?
May seem a bit of a strange quastion but I am a long way away from the GPS equipment at the present time.
thanks,

I've done mine from the PPC. But technically it should not matter, the SiRF command is the same. _________________ Lutz

Hi Lutz,
It took a while since I could get back home and could finally try out what you suggested. Anyway this certainy did the trick and a factory re-set had the GPS unit working in seconds and the LED now flashes green. TomTom working fine for several days. I had basically no useful help from TomTom (Netherlands) over this problem. Once again many thanks. |
