|
|
Using the latest version of cameralert alongside the GM version of iOS 6, I got two distorted voice messages yesterday. Not sure what went on, most of the alerts were fine and as expected but two were not.
They basically had the beginning chopped off.
First one was for a mobile 30, but all I got was 'le 30', missing the mobi bit to begin with. Same with a redlight 30, only heard 't 30' instead.
Hopefully this can be looked into and fixed.

Not being clipped here, are you using a BT car kit or similar? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Using the new Tomtom mount via Bluetooth. That could be the cause perhaps? _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

we originally had the Bluetooth delay set to 2 seconds. That gave enough time to establish the BT connection and then issue the audio without truncation. The problem obviously is that the warning comes 2 seconds too late. So we tried to reduce the delay to 500 ms. This seems to be sufficient on most devices, but it might be too tight for your setup. Maybe we'll have to make the delay flexible. _________________ Lutz

Further to the reply by Lutz, I have to be careful what I say here as the new Tomtom iPhone car mount I have is still covered by an NDA.
Safe to say, I have asked TT about the issue too as it is not clear if it is a hw (tomtom mount) or sw (cameralert app) issue.
I have not had the issue since I reported here around a month ago, so still none the wiser about what caused it. I guess there are not many CamerAlert users with this new mount which is why the issue has not been reported by anyone else!
Will keep my eyes peeled for it happening again!

In which case you've probably just broken the terms of the NDA by stating that you have a specific device that is covered by an NDA... :p

It doesn't matter really, unless it's a new mount for my iPhone 5, in which case, I hope he's got one (well, I hope there is one about to land on the marketplace).
Lutz, I have given up on most separate Bluetooth speakers as they suffer the cutoff start - one reason for me using the Pre-Warning has been to overcome the time taken for the BT device to come to life and speak the warnings and it still doesn't do the job. I have found, however, that if I change iPhone 5 settings to Bluetooth, the warnings seem to work OK on my Jabra WAVE earpiece. But I don't want to have them on the earpiece as that means I get no sound when I switch the earpiece off. With my former iPhones and powered TT/Mio carkit mounts, the BT automatically routed to them when switched on, but reverted to iPhone when switched off. Sadly iPhone 5 won't go on those mounts. _________________ Dennis

It's not a new mount as in its unreleased, but it is the new iPhone mount with a similar non iPhone smartphone mount with Bluetooth and active speaker. And sadly I don't have an iPhone 5. It wouldn't fit this new mount anyway, but that's another story ;)

|
|
Using an Apple iPhone 4 via bluetooth to the car speakers, after downloading IOS 6, I found that the end of an alert was cut off, however when the next alert came it started with the cut off bit from the previous alert. i.e "30. fixed ---" or even "30. mobile 6---" very strange until I realised what it was doing. However having said this it seems to have righted itself now, so the problem has disappeared. |

Any progress on this please? I still have completely unsatisfactory sound warnings. If I get a few in a row, they'll all sound OK, but just one (or the first one) misses almost all of the warning - I'm lucky if I get the speed. _________________ Dennis

Sorry, no progress yet. There are a few ramblings on the inter webs, but short of keeping the bluetooth channel open at all times by playing a silent-ish sound there doesn't seem to be a reliable way.
I'll try to do some more performance tweaking, maybe that helps or at least reduces the issue. _________________ Lutz
