For those not too sure, I thought I would post an update on my findings so far. I ordered the South East version to cover part of one of my site centered local maps, and sent my map off to Satmap to be 'upgraded'.....although the original upgrade offer of £15 disappeared after a week or so, so I opted for the special offer of £35, currently on their web site. As usual it was returned by return of post...excellent service as per usual. However, I then ran into a problem which meant phone calls and emails to try and sort out the problem. First things first. The Aerial map is shown on the A10 as an additional map and i assumed that by toggling my existing map, the Aerial option would 'kick in', but after sorting out the curruption problem, it seems this is not so. You have to'activate' the Aerial map first, just go into the planning stage is enough and then back to your regular map when you can toggle, but you have to remember that if you're looking at your regular 1:25 map, then you need to zoom in to get down to the Aerial option. The only downside I can see is that sometimes I like to zoom in closer to the 1:25 map for a better view of where I am, but with Aerial you basically can't as you seem to immediately go into this option if you zoom in. The Aerial map looks very similar to Google satellite and having tried it out, I'm not used to seeing the snail trail under the trees so to speak. What it is like outside of the area of my 'proper map I'm not sure but I shall be trying it out soon. I know this is not too clear, but may throw a bit of light on this subject. |
