So what might be the best option to replace my go 540 live ?
It keeps freezing and shutting down during journeys.
Ideally I would want something similar with -
UK ROI and European maps (full seamless maps for Europe)
Live services
Large memory or capacity to download / upgrade to larger maps. ie SD slot.
PC connectivity for maps and downloads / upgrades.
Ability to add own POI's ie POIs and camera database from here.
Voice control not essential, neither is radio or photo storage and stuff like that.

A cheap fix might be to copy the contents to an sd card and see if that fixes the problems.
Can't remember which type it is off the top of my head. |

4GB (or larger) MicroSD card with class 6 or higher for it's speed rating, copy all the files from the device to the car then insert the card, the device will then boot from the card, if it still reboots open the active map folder, locate and delete the MapSettings.cfg file, when it reboots a new copy of the MapSettings.cfg file will be created, you will have to re-enter your home location and any POI warnings you had set up - Mike |

Well, my new sd card arrived today, and as luck would have it today my 540 died before I could try the card in it.
Wont charge - will open then close as soon as the opening screen appears, so i think its retirement time for it.
Need to get a replacement smartish as need to find Hannover soon via Holland !

Have you tried giving it a decent charge before starting the device up?
Have you tried copying your backup to the SD card, inserting that and then switching on?
Soft reset? Hold down power button until it resets and reboots? |

Soft reset numerous times. Drum roll. Loading screen and shuts down. Now it wont do anything. As if no power at all.
Charge on mains overnight. Sometimes in morning switch lit green showing charhed. But as above it is dead on startup. Wont start on mains power.
Tried backup with sd card. Wont start to even see card.
If it did now i have no confidence in it.
So recommends for new as my first post ? _________________ 'Put your trust in God - my boys, and keep your powder dry' Oliver Cromwell |
