|

According to Home2, my Go520 has only 79.7mb of free internal space left. I need to buy western european maps that are just less than 2GB in size, so even after deleting the existing UK maps there would still be too little free space.
If I fit a 2GB card in the slot, will the new maps start to copy onto the internal memory until full and then switch to the SD card for the remainder? Or is it more complicated than that.

No, it doesn't split maps between internal and a card.
Use a 4gb SDHC card (Class 6 or higher speed) and tell Home to install it on the card when asked.
And then check. There is a bug wherein Home sometimes ignores the user's choice and tries to install stuff on internal as well as a card or on internal instead of the card. _________________ David |

Not quite... the entire map install would need to go onto the SD card.
I'd suggest you buy a 4GB card instead as the full Europe map for most models is now larger than 2GB, so you MIGHT get offered a better one if Home can see you have the space for it.
When Home opens, you'll get a new pop-up window that opens first of all where you can select the SD card as your preferred storage, THEN buy and download the map.
That will ensure that it gets installed to the right place. (if ANYTHING is certain when using Home! )
EDIT: Damn... I'm having REAL trouble beating dhn the last few days. Sabotage may be required.... _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

I had a feeling it would not be that simple!
I thought 2Gb was the biggest card I could use, I did not know it could take sdhc cards?

A 520 can use any card up to and including 32GB in capacity, just make sure you get class 6 or higher although a class 10 card in a TomTom is akin to feeding a pig on a diet of strawberries - Mike |

Thanks, I have a 16GB micro SD card & adaptor in my phone, I think I'll try that and see how it goes.
