Sorry folks, but I know this is simple and has been answered before - but I can't find it in "Search"
I have just uploaded the latest TT software and it has started to give me their cameras again which I don't want! - PGPSW's are so much better ad reliable.
How can I just get rid of the TT cameras??
I know the answer is so simple - but my feeble mind won't remember it!

Hi furryfred, I don't know the answer myself but if we can prepare the ground for those who do.
Which SatNav do you have and how up to date is it? _________________ Garmin Nuvi 2599

If its your 740 Live you can connect the device to your computer and use Windows Explorer to delete the camera files from the Europe map folder - Mike |

Sorry folks, but I can't find the TomTom cameras file.
What name does it go under?
PS I am running the map off SD card amd can't find any suspects neither can I find any in the device! _________________ Furry Fred

Don't forget you need to be looking for the camera files in the specific named folder for the map you are currently using. The original maps will be in a folder called "Western + Central Europe" or "Europe" or something very siimilar, but if you have recently opted for a "zoned" map then the old map folder will still be there, but the new zoned map will be in a folder called "Europe_West" (or similar for the other zones).
Once in the right map folder, if you have the "Premium service", the UK cameras are called
Safety_Cam_UK_Premium.ov2
Safety_Cam_UK_Premium.ov2.dct
Safety_Cam_UK_PremiumOv2.ver
(and all the other countries will be similar but with IR for Ireland ES fpr Spain etc.)
I think non-premium ones will either be called the same but without the word "Premium" or will have names like "Blitzer" "Radar" or "Fartkamera" (love that last one!) for some of the foreign ones, and they are always in the same sets of three files.
You can also just use TomTom HOME to remove the camera files. Go to "Manage my Go" select the "Items on device" tab, tick the "Safety Cameras" entry and click on "Remove items from device".
Finally... any reason this ended up in "News and Latest Information"?
I'll shift it to the TomTom section. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Thanks Andy,
No wonder I couldn't find it - it was a "Blitzer" set of files. I have deleted it and now hope not to get the TomTom cameras with their "ping"
How this got into the wrong area I don't know and, if it was me I humbly apologise. Personally I will blame George Osbourne!! _________________ Furry Fred

Sorry, but the bad penny has returned - and still with the same TomTom camera problem.
As suggested I have been through both the card and the device and cannot find any of the suggested names.
Allpow me to explain what I am getting.
I get a dark blue rectangle with a camera on it - there is an option to delete the camera but that doesn't seem to work and a double beep twice as the warning.
Most of these cameras relate to new cameras and I an now wondering whether these are being put in by TomYom's MapShare
Could this be possible?
If so how do I get rid?? _________________ Furry Fred

Try Andy's second suggestion (that way, you don't have to be a PC guru with Windows Explorer)... Quote: | You can also just use TomTom HOME to remove the camera files. Go to "Manage my Go" select the "Items on device" tab, tick the "Safety Cameras" entry and click on "Remove items from device". |

Tried removal via TT HOME but, even though I removed the Safety Camera settings (both on device and on the card) I am still getting these cameras.
These cameras always seem to be recent additions so could it be a faault of Mapshare?
Any further ideas?
Surely I am not the only one with this problem. _________________ Furry Fred

Well, I can guarantee that if you phoned or emailed TomTom you would be the only one with it!
Anyway, are you any good with Windows Explorer? If so, have a look (in your map folder) and list all the files with OV2 extension. _________________ Dennis

Interesting theory about the alerts just being for cameras from MapShare.... It's the first I've heard of it, but I guess it's possible as I think camera updates are now being done "over the air" (unlike MapShare itself which still isn't working at all...)
Now, even if you can't find the relevant files to delete, you SHOULD just be able to switch off the alerts for them.
On a Go950 on v9.061 software that's in Main menu / LIVE Services / Safety Alerts / Disable Alerts
Or on v9.430 software it's in Main menu / LIVE Services / Speed Cameras / Disable Alerts _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Andy - many thanks it appears to have worked and have hust been on a tour of the local offending cameras - result -- silence with none of their camera icons
It does seem to be downloaded from LIVE
On my TT I found the right place under your second alternative
Thanks
