Don't you just luurrv the latest marketing ploy? - this new device has four layer maps to really get you there!
Layer 1 is the TomTom map.
Layer 2 is IQ Routes.
Layer 3 is MapShare.
Layer 4 is Live services.
Yippee! _________________ Dennis

Not actually released... coming soon.
They need to be careful with trades descriptions though. As far as I know MapShare simply does not work on ANY of TomTom's NAV3 models yet. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Quote: | FREE Daily Map Changes
Free daily map changes from the Map Share community. New speed limits, blocked roads and one-way streets. Some things change overnight and can delay your journey. Map Share helps you deal with the more frequent road changes. Avoid detours and get to your destination even faster. |
I interpret this as either MapShare does indeed work on the Camper/Caravan model, or they transmit mapshare changes OTA to the device. _________________ Dennis

I interpret this as TomTom's technical authors "getting ahead of themselves" and bigging up a feature that still doesn't work. Which do you think....?
However, there is possibly some good news on the horizon. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Ditte said the marketing people should NOT have posted that 'layer' info as of yet. Can you imagine that!! _________________ David |

That's what I was alluding to....
It's not the first time... Remember the rubbish they spouted about MapShare itself when it first came out. They implied it could do far more than was actually possible. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

I would love this type of unit as I tow a caravan, but why cant they supply updates to new software instead of having to buy a new unit? |

Well, the old TRUCK software is available on-line (at a price) on a SD card and I used to use that on a dedicated TRUCK device, the TomTom Pro 7150 Truck, but I don't know if it would work on every device - you would also have to have a SD slot. What is your current device??
Unfortunately, the satnav fell off my windscreen and on its way to the floor hit the gear lever which broke the screen. Still worked (for a while) though. _________________ Gee-Pee

Wot's that mean, then?
Have you got a link to where it mentions that, please?
The whole "four layers map" business is just empty marketing babble.
And they are still talking about working Mapshare correction downloads, so that needs to be rolled out pretty damn soon.
Oh, and it's definitely NOT a "One" of any description. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Paraphrased for clarity (I think).
