I see from the latest map .. 885.4009 Western Europe a pair of "new" files ..
postal_GBR.ttd and postal_NLD.ttd
Are these new postcode files and I can delete the old "zip" folder that held the post codes .. or is it something completely different ?? |

The jury is still out on this one. At the moment I can't find the link, but it has been wondered in another thread, where someone did try deleting it and the postcodes didn't work. It may depend on model. _________________ Dennis

Hi Dennis, I tried it on my 550 by renaming zip and found that searches only returned the first part of the Postcode - after renaming it back to zip full Postcode searches were restored
edit:
You beat me to it - but I've no idea why post time says 11.00 because it's 10.03??? |

Have you remembered to change the timezone in your profile to GMT? _________________ Anita

Does this mean they have now integrated the postcodes into the maps? |

As said above only the the first part of them. My postcode is SG4 0D? and without the zip folder it only shows SG4. |

For four weeks, then you've got to remember to change it back again! _________________ Anita

I don't think so, it will revert to only accepting the first 3 of a postcode on any map version if the files in the ZIP folder are lost or corrupted.. |

TomTom have integrated the postcodes into the map updates. The postal_GBR.ttd and postal_NLD.ttd are identical to the corresponding files in the zip folder.
Unfortunately it has been demontrated by IanS100 that they are not using the newly integrated files on devices running Navcore 9.400.
We dont know yet if they are using the new postcode files on newer Nav3 devices (GO 1000 etc). There is very little difference in size between the version 885 and version 880 postcode files so it will be hard to find a postcode which has changed in the latest release. _________________ Paul |

I've only noted the first I came across. _________________ Richard

That's strange Richard. AB101AB appears in both my 880 and 885 postcode files. My 885 file is 9,205,345 bytes, is your 885 file a different size to mine? _________________ Paul |

My 885 file is also 9,205,345 bytes.
Just realised my error it should read "AB101AA is in the 880 file, but not in the 885!" _________________ Richard

Thank you Richard and well spotted.
AB101AA is not in the latest 885 postcode file but was in 880, 875 and 870.
So if someone with one of the new locked down devices (GO1000 etc) and the latest 885 map could check if they have the postcode AB101AA then we will know if those devices are now using the new postcode files contained within the updated map. _________________ Paul |
