My 730T suddenly went blank yesterday, I noticed it was not getting any power, checked my vehicle power socket and my phone charger worked, got back to depot and tried another lead on another vehicle and it powered up.
So I assume the old lead was U/S, just purchased a new Tomtom compact car charger and plugged it into the device, connected it to the car and everything works fine, my question is, the box with the new lead does NOT list the 730 as being compatible with this charger, as it appears to work, should I just carry on using it? _________________ Tomtom Go730T

As its obviously got a mini USB plug on the end of the new charger that fits the TomTom 730 it will be fine to use it. Mini USB is a defined voltage level of 5V and whilst the current output of some chargers will be higher than others the unit you have got should be fine it certainly won't damage the TomTom - Mike |

My original charger failed in France in July because a wire in the cable broke (I could get it to work by jiggling it) so I bought a compact charger in Norauto. I lent it to my son-in-law last week and it failed on him. No light when plugged in. I had a charger from a bluetooth hands-free and that one works. I assume it's ok to use it as all USB sockets should be the same voltage.
I optimistically emailed TT Support because I had paid cash and hadn't kept the till slip, but after asking for it's serial number (which I had already given them), it has been escalated to second tier so I'm waiting to see what happens. _________________ TT Go Essential |
