Just received an email from TT that my map updates are ending!
I guess that this means the map I downloaded last week was my last map. As they always send their emails late.
Suppose it had to come to an end at some point.
Just hope they don't stop my traffic service, as this would then give me no reason to stay with TT, unless they release an Android version. _________________ HTC Desire S - Vodafone

Do you mean MAPSHARE updates, or a SUBSCRIPTION for complete new maps?
If it's Mapshare, what map version do you have? Interesting to see if the time limit is based on the age of the device or the age of the map. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

My renewal is due but I would have expected the email to say "Your Map Update Subscription is coming to an end, renew now!"
But instead it said -
"Dear XXX,
Your Map Update Service is coming to an end. Bring your device right up to date: download your last new map (Map of Western Europe) now.
Your brand new map is packed with all the latest road changes, POIs and speed limits, ensuring the TomTom quality navigation experience that you expect.
Map Update Service is the best way to keep your map as up to date as possible.
Get last map
All the best,
The TomTom team"
Maybe I'm mis-reading the email but there is no mention of any renewal.
There hasn't been a Navcore update for quite some time so maybe this is the end of the line for these map updates too? _________________ HTC Desire S - Vodafone

I think you'll find it's just a badly worded email.
AFAIK, the map subscription service will still be available to you, if you go to buy it.
I helped a friend update the maps on a Go300 and Go700 recently, and we were still offered an update subscription (in fact we couldn't make it go away so we could just buy ONE map!)
I also think it generates too much revenue for TomTom, for them to consider stopping it! _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Hope you're right, since when did TT get into the habit of sending correct emails _________________ HTC Desire S - Vodafone

Got my renewal email after all
But I don't think I will renew after all, changing my phone soon, getting an Android.
So I'll either be getting TT for Android, if they EVER release it, or it's bye bye TT _________________ HTC Desire S - Vodafone

Strange.....
I also have the update subscription for my 720 and get a new map every 3 months (give or take a day here and there) so I do wind up with four updates over the course of 12 calendar months. _________________ David |

Me too, I get a new map every 3 months, end of Feb, end of May, end of Aug and the end of November.

Yup... sorry greenpadman, but whatever your problems may have been, a lack of maps isn't it!
Here are the approximate dates of the last 7 releases:
v850 maps released 27th June 2010
v855 maps released 31st August 2010
v860 maps released 17th Nov 2010
v865 maps released 15th March 2011
v870 maps released 17th May 2011
v875 maps released 16th August 2011
v880 maps released 15th November 2011
So as you can see there HAVE been 4 new maps per year and the current ones are v880.
If you have a map subscription and you weren't offered them at the right times, you need to ring customer services and get them to check your account.
you an say a lot of things about TomTom, but this ISN'T a con (or even a can!) _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

As I understood it, you pay for four updates, not necessarily in a year, but mine have always come at about 3 monthly intervals.
However, I have usually connected to Home and looked for an update, which usually is there. TT's email telling me it's available usually comes some time later. _________________ TT Go Essential |
