Is there any way of doing this? It is always lagging behind where I am on the road.
The only 'extra' I have loaded is the cameralert database.

Are you sure there are no other Custom POI Categories installed? - Mike |

You could also check that the POIs are not Enabled in Show on Map. If needed Warn When Near is a better option. _________________ Richard

Yes... any POIs set to "show on map" (not just custom/user-created ones) wil start to slow down the screen refresh, so keep it to aa sensible minimum.
But if the device is GENERALLY slow as well (slow to react to screen presses etc.) then it's probably down to recent software.
We find that "new, improved" TT software is often slower than what was originally supplied on the device, but we tend to put up with it for the additional features or improved "look" it gives us.
Did you make an"out of the box" backup of the 530 (as you always should...), or even just one with a previous version of software to what you have on it now?
Try restoring that onto the device as an experiment and see if the problem goes away. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Thanks for the thoughts.
I sometimes use my 530 on my motorbike where I cannot see the screen (sun too bright) so 'turn left now' is very useful to me. Not much use though when I have gone past the turn.
Colour is completely useless when you can't read the screen anyway. Shame they don't produce a sun illuminated screen (black and white).

If you don't have a backup but you would like to roll back and try an earlier NavCore to see if it makes a difference, try a PocketGps search in the search box (top right of this web page) with the following keywords:-
whitepilgrim volume (Just click Here to go straight to the thread rather than searching)
this should lead you to a post started by whitepilgrim in August 2009. Posts 4 & 8 are from mikealder with links to earlier x30 software versions and their differences.

It would probably run a little faster if you used an sdhc card [class6] instead of the internal memory. _________________ Mike R [aka Wyvern46]
