Interesting findings with HD traffic recently...
I've noticed recently there is a lot more information regarding roadworks, high wind warnings, and lane restrictions etc. FAR more information than I ever noticed a few weeks ago. So far from what i've driven it's all been quite accurate too.
Just planned a route from Dundee to Edinburgh which incorporates both the Friarton bridge at Perth and the Forth Road bridge at Queensferry.
Live Traffic is reporting these bridges as blocked due to strong winds, when in fact they are open with speed restrictions. (The Device only reports them as being blocked with no other info)
Is anyone else experiencing this or similar?
Good to see TomTom improving their traffic data sources, but it needs a bit more fine tuning! _________________ Graeme Bennett

I've taken the liberty of passing it on to TomTom. Hope you don't mind? _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

On the m6 they are sying there are roadworks betwwen j20 and 18 the Middlewich turning, but there are non at all and lane closures to, also between, junction 14 Stafford South and junction 17 Sandbach turning, again there are non, anyone else getting these.
Also there ARE roadworks on the m62 between junction 11 and junctions 12 around Manchester, but for some reasons these are not metioned on Tom Tom ? |

The forth bridge was closed, sort of, but only to double deckers..... Speed restrictions on everything else. Still very misleading.
I also use traveline Scotland app on iPhone that gives access to traffic Scotland, which is very accurate so double check any closed Scottish roads with that.

I've always wondered why your TomTom doesn't ask you what kind of vehicle you're driving. If you drive a van like a Transit Connect or bigger then speed limits on single carriageway roads should be 50mph not 60mph. And bridges closed to buses would not affect cars... |

I guess TomTom`s answer to that would be that you should be buying one of their `Truck`models. _________________ "Settling in nicely" ;-) |

Journey tonight from Dundee to Edinburgh and first problem was that Friarton Bridge reported blocked southbound. I didn't risk this so avoided the closure listed in Live Traffic and ran through Fife. Just North of Forth Road Bridge the closed symbol in Live Traffic was still showing.
I then changed the destination and as the recalculation was processing I was asked if I wanted to avoid the 'Closed' road on my route. I said no and the recalc concluded and I then travelled across FRB successfully.
I appreciate you have reported this but it is becoming confusing since the winds were quite strong but an hours diversion was not that attractive. |
