I'm losing track of all my devices/emails/passwords etc so a couple of quick questions:-
For paid for Live Services (x40/x50 etc) do I need tt.com, TTHome and the device to all have the same email/password even if it's a dummy one eg my540@somewhere.net etc
For prepaid map updates do I need tt.com and TTHome to both have the same email/password even if it's a dummy one eg my540@somewhere.net etc |

For TomTom devices, you MUST have separate IDs for each device, e.g my540@somewhere.net and my550@somewhere.net. I do this. I also have limited intelligence, so my password is the same for everything under the sun!! (I also have a piece of paper blu-tacked to the wall behind my computer showing all my email addresses and passwords - it's getting really tattered!).
If you use dummy email addresses, there is nothing lost, only you will not get emails which you might like to get (I get at least seven emails every time TomTom run their latest promotions and it gets me down a bit!). But I also get the emails which tell me the latest map is now available from the update service - that's why I don't use dummy addresses. And those are also the email addresses which are on my details if ever I raise a query with TomTom Support. _________________ Dennis

I agree Dennis BUT do these (per device) need to be the samefor tt.com, TTHome & the device itself. |

I dunno the RULES for it. Quite simply all mine do conform - anything and everything to do with 550 is 550's address and password wherever I log it. I would GUESS that Home and the Device must be the same, but with TT.COM I suppose maybe you could have just one ID and password as it's just a website like any other. But if you then wanted to raise a support query you'd need to identify what device you were talking about and maybe give them its Home and Device identity - could get complicated. It would be more convenient to have just one ID/email/password for everything to do with TomTom, but that's not possible bearing in mind TT's odd requirement that you must have separate accounts for each device. _________________ Dennis

One good thing TT have done - these later versions of Home remember, so when I plug a device in, it automatically identifies itself. Having said which, I now have little labels on each desktop dock with the ID address of the device on it (all four devices have different connectors which helps, too). _________________ Dennis

It was such a good idea that TT (in their usual style) didn't bother to implement it on Home's replacement, MyTomTom. |

But surely there are other reasons why you don't fancy the latest models? _________________ Dennis
