I wonder how many of the map corrections I submitted in the last 2 months are in the new maps?
Can anyone tell me if Ravenscroft in Irvine has been fixed? In the 860 maps most of it was named Livingstone Terrace. Look up "Ravenscroft, Irvine" in Bing Maps to see it more accurately. |

Update on my question about M48 Severn Bridge being at 40mph. Today by coincidence I went that way. I found the first short stretch leading away from the tollbooths was at 40, then over the bridge it changed to 71, then last bit before turning off for Chepstow back to 40 again. I guess the 71 is down to me doing a mapshare to it (inaccurately) on the previous map and somehow the Carminat has retained my corrections. If it wasn't such a bind doing Carminat on the computer, I'd bring the SD card in and see if I could alter my settings with Home to do away with my own corrections in order to get rid of it. _________________ Dennis

Ravens Croft (two words) KA12 is the same in the new map as it was in 860. _________________ Dennis

It's also spelt as 'Ravens Croft'. _________________ Richard

It's happened before in the past.
You are not the first.
Maybe because it's a USA model, but you have a UK IP, and it's confused TomTom. _________________ GO 620, Tomtom Android EU,

Many have same feelings after using Mapshare and not seeing any improvements..
It seems to be a a lottery if your Mapshare corrections actually make it onto a new map version. _________________ GO 620, Tomtom Android EU,

Since DennisN posted on page 2 of this thread that TomTom told him:
Quote: | I can tell you that the new London Congestion Charging Zones have not been updated into the new maps. The reason was that the information was only officially released in October. By this time it was far too late to change the data for the current iteration of maps. | it seems safe to assume that no correction submitted in the last two months will be included. _________________ Anita

Have a look at my signature and take three guesses (or use the phone number to ask TT yourself).
Be aware that MapShare "corrections" appear on your own map immediately (but are temporary and may be lost when the map is replaced by a new download, so you may need to make them again for each new map issued until your changes are incorporated permanently), but when you upload them to TT what happens to them is up to other people's settings - they can take advantage of them if they wish, by accepting all corrections (like the 40mph speed limit across M48 Severn Bridge ), or take advantage of a certain number only, e.g. corrections which have been verified by TomTom (like the 40mph speed limit across M48 Severn Bridge ) or not accept any corrections, like myself (I only "trust" items which have been properly checked and verified by TomTom and incorporated as permanent changes in the new maps - like the 40mph speed limit across M48 Severn Bridge ).
Footnote. On some devices (like mine) the 40mph speed limit across M48 Severn Bridge may appear as 71mph due to my having submitted a correction to 70mph. _________________ Dennis

Mapshare rubbish blah blah blah.
Best thing out there for correcting you own map! No other Sat nav makes has done anything similar.
I know the sharing process is shrouded in secrecy, and that corrections take a long time to make it to the actual map data, but you could take my trusty GO 950 with the latest v8.65 map data and I would personally guarantee you not to get lost in Newcastle city centre.
I have corrected it via Mapshare so much that someone who has never been here will not get lost, no dodgy turn restrictions, no blocked roads etc etc.
Nothing similar from ANY other Sat nav maker is available. You get their base map, whether Teleatlas (Aka Tomtom now) or Navteq and are stuck with it. You can't correct that annoying one way turn, or the blocked road you are ALWAYS routed down!
I agree the system isn't perfect, but lets be a bit more fair about it. Nothing else out there compares to it.
If I find an error, I report it and get on with my job driving!
I have seen plenty of errors reported simply by sending in maphare reports. Equally, I have seen plenty of erroneous junctions etc still on latest map. But Mapshare does work.
I know I will undoubtedly get a slating here for being Pro-Mapshare/Pro-Tomtom but I use their devices 5 days a week for my full time job, a bit like DennisN :D, and since the inception of Mapshare so I do have good grasp of the quirks and pros/cons of the system!
