I use CheckPOInt and have a variety of the databases downloaded to TomTom. I also use POI Edit and the POI service from this website for some POI files.

As far as I can see, the CheckPOInt files do not contain names, and hence are smaller than some other POI files, which means trying to work out when the files are available from both sources which is more complete very difficult.

So, a question - given that many of the files appear to use similar data as their starting point, I guess that at some point they have been linked. However, do people find that the POI files here or available via CheckPOInt are more accurate? I guess I should actually ask whether PocketGPSWorld, POI Place or POI Handler is felt to be the most accurate.

I am *NOT* interested in opinions on the speed camera database files - but simply on the other overlays - shops, fuel stations, LPG fuel stations etc. - which is felt to be kept up to date the best?

Thanks,

Steve
(trying to cut down the number of duplicate overlays)

One fairly major difference between the CheckPOInt files and the Pocketgpsworld files is that the ones from here contain information within them - so for example, if you want to navigate to a particular Sainsburys store (instead of just the nearest), or you want to navigate to a particular Zoo, then you really need the Pocketgpsworld files, and not the CheckPOInt ones.

Over the last few weeks I've found this difference so important that I'm happy to accept the slower update cycle to the files here as the files are more useful, and with TomTom's limited maximum POI file I don't have room for both sets.

I hope this difference helps people decide where to get their POI data, and to support the Pocketgpsworld POI service with even more updates.
