Surely the preferred way would be to buy a decent app such as Navigon?
Why would anyone choose to pay Google an annual fee for the privilege of using Google Nav, premium maps or no premium maps??
In fact, I still don't get why anyone would choose to use it full stop! _________________ Darren Griffin |

Because, "Guvnor", Google Maps/Google Navigation is FREE (APART FROM THE DATA download as you go cost -which I guess is a contradiction?). Google PREMIUM Navigation (totally seperate) IS a chargeable item at about 25£/annum.
Google Maps (download as you go) one is always (in theory) assured of latest map data.
Never looked at the cost of "Navigon", so Google seems the better option.

Yes, fully appreciate that - don't appreciate why anyone would pay £25p.a. for the PREMIUM Nav.

They only cut the maps every quarter though and Google still use TA for maps.

How do you deduce that if you haven't looked at the other options? Google Nav (FREE) is one thing, free is a great selling point after all. That is as you can rely on the data connection, aren't nearing your data usage limit, and don't want to use it abroad.
But otherwise.... _________________ Darren Griffin |

"But otherwise" buy Navigon for 77.41£!! May just as well use my TomTom!
True on the use of Google Maps abroad (££££), but a data connection does NOT now need to be CONSTANT, as journey map data is now cached, so whilst in UK and using navigation, the sometimes loss of data would not/should not be an issue.
Doesn't CamerAlert also need a data stream? ;-)

I just thought that as one of the original alpha testers and then a beta tester, all updates would be tested by the beta tester group first, before being released via the Android Market. _________________ Robert.

I tested it
it was only a relatively minor update so didn't need the range of devices as the earlier beta's etc.

Just had cause to report a 'seen again' mobile. Sooo simple compared to a) remembering where/when I'd seen it and b) turning on pc, finding it on map and filling in form. And no, I didn't report it whilst I was driving! Way to go, Team |

I can confirm. I was the one making the suggestion about the run application automatically on startup, in another thread
That was just less than five days ago Amazing!!
P.S. It works fine with my third party SatNav App. Thank you. |

What is 'also run the following application'
Because when I use that feature and select Sygic Aura nothing else happens.

It is intended to launch an app of your choice, a navigation app for most users.

We are using a feature of Android, if it doesn't launch Sygic then that is a bug, whether it is a bug in Sygic or Android I can't say. It's not possible for us to test every possible app but the app logs may throw some light on it.
Do you have any other navigation apps installed? Can you test it with any other app to confirm that the feature itself is working? _________________ Darren Griffin |

have you exited (fully quit) the app and restarted?
i've tested it successfully with Sygic MM10 and Navigon as well as a handful of non-navigation apps (i didn't dare try selecting 'CamerAlert' in case I got stuck in an infinite loop!!) .
I can't try Aura as my device doesn't hae the required 3D graphics acceleration.
