|
|
Hi I've just go a Go 550 Live with 12 month free live subs. If I want to use PGPSW's camera database instead of that provided by the live sub, what do I need to do? Do I just turn live camera warnings off in the settings menu or do I need to delete some files prior to installing the PGPSW's database?
Thanks

Either!
You can leave them both running side by side if you like (a good way to show how many the TT effort misses!)
Once you've decided you don't need them, you can just switch off the alerts in the "Safety Camera" menu (although you may find it switches them back on again if you have a re-boot or have to do a reset!).
If you decide to remove the files completely, you can do it in Home if you don't want to mess around removing files manually. Use the "Manage my Go" section in Home to remove them. |

many thanks for clearing that up.
Just one more thing, if I 'run' with both do I get double warnings? which will take priority?
Thanks

Yes you will get double warnings, neither has priority as such. But you'll quickly see how poor TomToms data is and can the turn it off _________________ Darren Griffin |

For testing purposes I often run with both enabled*.
If you leave the TomTom ones on their default warning distances/times and set the PGPSW ones up with the recommended "10 times the speed limit in yards" method (so a 30mph camera warns at 300yards, a 50mph camera warns at 500 yards etc) then you'll find that you usually get the voice warning from the PGPSW one first followed after a couple of seconds by a TomTom "boing" sound (if the TT data knows the camera is there).
You see the PGPSW camera icons on the map getting closer and you get the PGPSW icon flashing in the top corner, until the TomTom one takes over a few seconds later (again if the TT data knows its there).
* But for preference I switch the TT ones off (especially when it starts beeping at me constantly when I'm driving down the motorway at 70 and it's convinced I'm speeding because it thinks the roadworks and SPECS cameras that finished weeks before are still there). |

I do this by using full & consolidated warnings set up in a very similar way - I get the spoken warning at a distance & a warning tone as I get closer - it works well although can get a bit busy when there are lots of cameras on both sides of the road |
