Are you saying that the settings in the link I gave above do not work for O2 PAYG?
Session Type: Continuous/Permanent
Security: Off
Gateway Address: None
DNS Address: 193.113.200.200 193.113.200.201 (Probably could also leave blank and let DHCP allocate)
Authentication: Normal
Access Point Name PAYG: payandgo.o2.co.uk
Mail server (SMTP) PAYG: payandgo.o2.co.uk
Mail server (POP3): mail.o2.co.uk
Username PAYG: payandgo
Password PAYG: payandgo
Home Page: http://pda.o2.co.uk/ |

Hmmm, I guess re-reading your post, that is what you are saying.
Are you using *99# as the dial string and the advanced connection string of +CGDCONT=1,"IP","payandgo.o2.co.uk" ?
A couple of quick googles do seem to suggest that if you are both an O2 PAYG and Contract customer, you can call them and get internet GPRS activated on your PAYG card, but not if you are just an O2 customer.
There is also an indication that maybe they have tightened-up on their billing lately, and any holes that were previously there have now already been plugged for new users of internet GPRS on PAYG? |

The link you gave worked, but on PAYG using "payandgo.02.co.uk" APN I can only get a limited number of 02 sites and not general internet access and TomTom traffic. On contract and "mobile.02.co.uk" APN I can get general internet access. I cannot use the PAYG APN on contract and vice-versa.
What I would like to do is get general internet access on payandgo.02.co.uk. |

I should add on my PDA when using 02 PAYG, I can access http://pda.02.co.uk, but I cannot access TomTom Traffic or other sites. This shows I am connecting and the setup is correct, but 02 have put in some sort of restriction. |

Yep, that's what I read. I think they do it by a mixture of gateways and DNS addresses.
Here's an idea that one could try. If they are using DNS to stop access to sites outside those that they want to restrict you to, you could download and install Pocket Hosts into your PPC. You then setup a static entry for the appropriate TTT server.
The trick is finding out what that TTT server is in terms of fully-qualified hostname. After that you can easily ascertain it's IP. |

believe it me really DID work.... but sadly O2 have restricted it to pda.o2.co.uk now.... how irritating!!!!!!! arghh!!!
bloody annoying!
Ive just spent 3 hours trying to get connected with my old settings (my psa reset itself and i havent used traffic or the internet for a little while).
can;t do it... can only assume that O2 have turned it off! |
