For a few weeks now i have been trying to download the new app, so far it has never worked properly. I received an e mail from tom tom saying that it is o.k and re install it again, i did, and i have the same problems again. I hope that someone has also tried to download the new app and that it is working o.k. and where did i go wrong or is ot only on certain models.
James

What problems are you having? Any error messages?
What NavCore is this? 9.058? Whilst it is not without any problems it seems to be ok for most people. |

|

Thank you all for the quick reply, i have posted a few times and stated the same problems as SPIKEY MIKEY. When i download the new app i have traffic, thats fine. if i switch off the unit and switch on i have no traffic, it then tells ne cannot connect to live services, all i can do is a reset to get it working again,. I also have the problem when i want to connect to my pc when i press yes its plays my shutdown sound (initiating shutdown sequence) i also have had numerous error messages 1018 was 1 of them. Tom tom tell me its al ok and to download, but for me it is far from ok.
Hope this helps you to help me.

Hi Jamsie, I assume you're referring back to this thread here:
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=84557&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=165
Just to let you know that my support question on the shutdown voice is still unanswered and is shown as 'updated', which probably means its been dropped, although I made sure I didn't leave it over 3 days before updating it. They just seem to have ignored it. I've now removed all voices (other than navigational ones).
Good job I'm not very good at holding my breath _________________ Mike

You still haven't said what the "new app" version is that you're trying to use. |

I have just downloaded it again, still the same, the old app works normally but the new 9.058 keeps having to do a soft reset every time i switch it on to get live services, and the yes button for the pc plays my shutdown theme , again tom tom sent me an e mail to say it is back to 2 line again, i am sure more people than spikey mikey or myself must be having these problems, i am using the go 740 live.
Thanks Again Andy P
hope you can give a clearer picture now you have the info |

Am I missing the point here, but what does it matter if the shutdown sound plays when connecting to the computer?
The unit does have to shut down from its navigating mode to restart into the computer mode.
It did not happen on earlier versions and it does happen on this version. it could be argued that it should have played the sound on the previous versions and failed to.
I have not found that a software reset is needed to get the traffic working, just a lot of patience, as long as there is a mobile connection it will come up, but it takes an unacceptable amount of time to do so, sometimes over five minutes. _________________ Drivelux |

That's a bit strong MrT.
All I, and others, have done is report a perceived problem with the new navcore that wasn't present in the previous version(s).
Why should any problem be any less troublesome because it isn't 'showstopping'.

Have to say I tend to agree with Mr T on that one.
The issue with having to do a soft reset every time jamsie switches it on, in order to get live services working, is obviously a big problem - the difficulty being working out why it is affecting jamsie and not other people with a similar set-up (me, for example).
But the fact it's started playing the shutdown sound as you connect to the PC (when it *is* doing a "sort of" shutdown) is interesting, but not really of any great importance is it?
More like a "feature" than a bug.... |
