No... that was my point above!
As far as I remember, on the most recent software versions you DON'T/CAN'T use the old trick of replacing the antitheft screen anymore
Somehow if the box is ticked to warn you not to leave the thing in the car it always uses the real antitheft image (that's why I mumbled about it maybe being hard-coded)
But if you DON'T tick it, then you can use an added suspendw.bmp image.
Signum... have you tried my suggestion of getting the Go into the state where it uses the original suspend image not the antitheft on shutdown (i.e. unticking the "warn me..." box, then making a copy of the suspendw.bmp file and changing it just a bit (like my graffiti).
See if that works before using a completely new image file. |

Here's my GO 550, App 9.054, right now, this morning, not from memory (it's taken a long time because I had to have my bath, put the cover on the duvet and install photoshop). I don't know if it's the most recent software version, but it's what I've got and it works for me.

OK, maybe it has changed back, or I have remembered something wrongly, or it only affects a different model but I definitely did a load of experiments on this exact situation some time ago.
I should have left for a working holiday 15 mins ago, so just don't have time to look back for it, I'm afraid.
The point remains that I think Signum can't get it working using the antitheftw route, so he needs to explore all the avenues, and the suspendw method works for me on a 940, a 950 and an XL.
I will look forward to seeing the outcome on my return next week! |

Delete the existing suspendw.bmp (actually, change the name so that it doesn't pick up). _________________ Dennis

Okay - with box not ticked, if i add a bit of writing to the image it works fine.
So far so good.......... http://www.flickr.com/photos/49607879@N04/4890236849/
I will now try it with a quick change in paint to the antitheft image. |

Okay its working - but the way i had to do it was to open the existing file, and past my image over it leaving a 1mm boarder (you cant notice this)
I used the antitheft file, opened it, pasted it over the top and saved it direct. Ticked box and it seemed to work.
Not sure why when i went into PaintSop X2, created new layout with a size of 480 X 272 etc, all the sizes, kb were spot on the same, but it didn't like this way.
How strange? So not sure why it wouldn't work with me creating my own image though? But i got something on there. |

So you....
used antitheftw.bmp and you....
ticked the item "Warn me not to leave the device in the car".
Now can somebody remind me where I went wrong?
DennisN wrote: | 1. You get two nice pictures and you make them bitmaps (.bmp) size 480 x 272 pixels.
2. For the startup screen, you call it splashw.bmp.
3. For the shutdown screen, you call it antitheftw.bmp.
4. You go to the 750, using Windows Explorer. There, you will see files already having those names - rename them splashwold.bmp and antitheftwold.bmp
5. Copy and paste your two new pictures into that same place on the 750. |

I have to say that I am a bit dissapointed. I took the trouble to follow your link and there wasn't a xmas hat to be seen anywhere! _________________ Paul |

Dennis - i never said you went wrong anywhere. All Andy did was offer an alternate way to do it, because first off the 'antitheft' way didn't work for me, so in light of that he was suggesting a different way round it.
When i tried both ways i was trying to generate a new image, so in fact for me neither worked to start with, but seems i can have a found a way round that and now i could do it either way so there's plenty of choice there.
All i will say, is the antitheft image is on the screen a touch longer than the suspend file, well looks that way, i haven't timed it but im sure it does.

i decided against the xmas hat idea, a bit early - but are you sure you clicked the right link.......http://www.flickr.com/photos/49607879@N04/4893554516/ - this is the link you clicked yes |

If that image is the one you were trying to use then my investigations show it to be 480 x 271 pixels, not quite the right size ! |

As i say the hat can wait till Xmas.
As for image size, yes this is smaller, i took it down a notch so i could paste it comfortably into existing image, hence why when i upload it, it comes up smaller. |

Thank you Signum.
Dennis forgot to quote my later post where I said that "maybe it has changed back, or I have remembered something wrongly, or it only affects a different model"
When I checked it all out, the situation was exactly as I wrote.
You also got it to work using a modified suspendw image, which to me is the better way to do it (because the antitheft image is still there if you ever wanted to change your mind and re-tick the option to use it).
So it looks like the only problem was that your chosen Paint program doesn't produce correctly sized images? |
