Hi All,
Has anyone a photo of the inside of the above receiver showing the position of the four coloured wires (red, orange, green and black).
Best regards,
Draysoft. |

I've got one of those somewhere.
If I can dig it out, can you remind me how easy it is to get the case apart? |

Hi Andy,
Thanks for the reply, I just gentley squashed the 'egg' in a small vice and it split open.

That is certainly one way. For a cleaner extraction I recommend a Dremel tool around the edges. |

I now again have a working TomTom RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver type 4V00.013 with my 720.
It all started to go wrong when the windscreen of my works van was replaced, the fitter fractured the lead between the ‘egg’ and the jack plug I now know in two places one right against the ‘egg’ and the other at the jack end.
In my hast to repair it I mislaid my sketch of the position of the four wires even when I did have the correct combination it did not work, because of the second fracture.
It is now hard wired to my Carcomm Cradle and is working as well as it ever did.
One final question what is the latest traffic receiver that will work with the 720 and what firmware version is required?
By the way using the vice method allows the 'egg' to be glued together afterwards as it just springs apart. |

I used one of the USB RDS-TMC receivers with a 920, but I found that the reception was better with the .013
The usb one gets annoying after a while as it powers from the power adapter, so if you turn the ignition off you lose TMC if your cig lighter socket is switched with the ignition and not permanently live. So, stopping at a petrol station meant all traffic info was lost and you had to wait 5 mins or so for it to lock on again after resuming your journey.
If the .013 one is working for you then stick with it. |
