Don't bother calling them - just log a support ticket online.
There was method to my madness with the advice I gave - you would have had LIVE working from day one and then all you had to do was wait a couple of days to get the latest map. TT would have transferred the subscription over in the background so you would have been non the worse off.
Have you tried putting your new account details in on the device - it may kick it all to life.
There are numerous problems reusing previous accounts, as you have already found out, especially on LIVE devices. Unfortunately HOME will quite happily let you do things that cause problems further down the line.
Please don't take any offence, but it really galls me when people come on here and ask for advice, others take the time to reply and offer that advice, and then it is ignored. Especially when if they had followed the advice the problems they are now experiencing would have been unlikely to have occurred. |

Andy,
Part of the issue may be Home. Because it defaults to logged in, when you plug in your nice new device it takes over and does the offer to link it to your new account. So it is sort of hard to not fall over this one. You have to log out explicitly in Home to do the new account thing.

I just get the server error when I try that. |

Looks like the servers are a bit flakey at the moment.
Try the power button reset - hold the power button in until you see a load of text on the screen then power off and then power on again and give it another try.
I have had a few intermittent server errors since about 16:15 - but I also seem to be one of the few who have 9.053 loaded and it could be that as well giving me grief

Well on Friday morning I decided to ignore Andy's advise again (sorry Andy) and phone TomTom rather than raise a support ticket. This is because I was about to set off for the BH weekend so wanted my HD traffic working asap.
I have to say TomTom customer services were exceptional - very polite, friendly and knowledgeable. They solved the problem and even gave me an extra free month subscription due to me having to call them again about the same issue.
Having used HD Traffic over the weekend I was very impressed. It successfully routed me around jams 3 times taking me down a few country lanes I would never have known to take. I wish they had a more flexible subscription system to make it worthwhile for occassional users. Pay-as-you-go for say £1 per day or £3.50 per week would surely be a good idea.
Overall I'm really chuffed with my new TT - great device and can't fault the service from TT either. |

Glad you got it working.
Seems a few people have been able to get through to TT lately and get a successful conclusion quite painlessly - not something they have been previously renowned for.
Feel free to ignore my advice whenever you want - but don't expect me not to moan if it causes a 'challenge' in TT speak |

Well I did take quite a lot of the advice on here and it was all good so thanks everyone for getting me up and running.
Andy - you don't work in IT in the Sheffield area do you? |
