Hello,
Price difference is big enough for me to be interested in buying a Street Pilot 2610 or 2620 at http://www.aspidshop.com/export/store/
I did indeed post the same request at www.pocketgpsworld.com last week.
Why?
Because NOBODY AT ALL did answer me, did buy at http://www.aspidshop.com/export/store/ or simply has heard about this site.
I am just being cautious here.
Tempted by the savings (£160) but alarmed as nobody seems to know this company.

I just got this answer from the Executive Director of Aspidshop who took time to make a detailed answer.
Let me introduce myself. I am Duarte Braga, Executive Director of Aspid
Portugal, a multi-national company in the market since 1998 (ex-Tekelec
Inc), who owns the site www.aspid-export.com . Our corporate website is

I've seen a couple of posts from you in some newsgroups. In fact you
could not read reviews from us because we have opened the website on the
21st of May 2004. We have many happy customers, as we have an excelent
service and prices.
We have experienced some delays in supplying the 60CS/60C family, due to
the general problem from Garmin in their production due to the lack of
LCD displays at this time of the year.
Even though we are shipping an average of 30 units of 60CS each week. We
had no trouble sofar with 2610/20 series as we have local stock. Garmin
promised that until the end of June all stock issues will be solved. I
am sure you will have a great experience with us.

you.
AspidCom is an International Group, known by its seriousness in the
distribution market and it is very sad seeing some people who have no
idea about us just trying to broadcast a less serious image of us.
I even saw some people saying that we take the money from the credit
cards before we have stock and proceed with the shippment. What this
people have is a complete lack of understanding of how VISA
INTERNATIONAL works. They always keep that money in stand-by (on their
side) to make sure their customer does not spend over budget limit. We
charge the credit cards only when we ship. Failing to do this is
absolutelly illegal and would force VISA INT'L to cancel forever any
account with us.
I understand your concern, but I am sure, that with time, you will see
that we simply have the best prices in Europe with a great customer
service. Ask how many retailers accept a GPS for repair under or out of
the warranty to be repaired, regardless where it has been bought...
I normally try to keep out of this type of issues, but I am payed to
defend the integrity and honor of my company.

Dear Frenchie
Many thanks for your suggestions. We've just added the possibility for
customer feedback. Soon we will also add product reviews.
Regarding stock indicator is to complicated for us. We have a limited
internal warehouse. (You can even look at the picture here:
http://www.aspidshop.com/export/store/default.php?enterprise_id=8 )
Our building is just 3 miles away from the nearest Garmin Distributor in
Lisbon. It is impossible to manage our stock and their stock. What I can
tell you is that in most cases, if we don't have stock of a product in
Aspid, then you will not find it anywhere else.
We run to our Garmin Distributor at least twice a day. So their wharehouse
is also our wharehouse. Why don't you call www.garmin.pt and ask for
references about Aspid Portugal?
What most of our customers do is to ring us or send an e-mail asking if we
have stock, before they place the order.
On a private e-mail I can send you some names and e-mails from customers who
bought from us and you can have your reports.

Received Friday 25 June 04 at 10:00am the Garmin SP2610 after having ordered it on Wednesday 23 June 04 at around 11:00.
Packaging was superb. Genuine Garmin packaging was itself packed up with bubble-wrap and again protected by a further bigger carton packaging, itself firmly scotchtaped by Aspidshop.

I sent around 20-30 mails to Duarte Braga who answered kindly to all of them.
I am now registered with Garmin for warranty and support.
I have a full European & UK (2 Plugs with adaptator) unit.
So, what do the UK dealers offer more for 25% higher price? _________________ StreetPilot 2610 (Garmin)

3 Days after placing my order, it is in my hands.....all the way from Portugal to the UK. Everything is packed well and the unit is great (even coming with a 256Mb card). Thanks aspidshop for the great service and great saving over buying from the UK! |
