At last Live traffic is active in the UK, still not clear what the delay was.
However, switched the Navigon on and within a few minutes I had 235 incidents listed in the traffic information.
So far it looks so much better than having to rely on the FM signal for TMC information over the radio.
Just wonder if my discount code still works after so long of waiting. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

How does Live Traffic pick up the information?
Before I updated my software to 7.4.0 I had a TMC button. Once upgraded there was no TMC button but I could configure my TMC.
Once I had Live Traffic activated I could no longer configure TMC |

You have got the LIVE module. Live traffic is recieved via a mobile phone module which comes with the 8450. The 8410 doesn't come with the module but can be purchased seperate.
Without the module & updated software you can't do anything with a Live subscription. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

Someone else has mentioned this before, Roy124. According to the 8450 manual on Navigon's site (which I guess you have anyway) it does say that you can choose between TMC and Live, but they said the option wasn't actually there on the unit. Maybe Navigon decided it was a no-brainer but then what do you do if the Live system goes down?
As far as I understand it Live uses TMC + Live-users' real time reports to the Live (Inrix) server. But I might be wrong - any idea from Inrix's site? _________________ David

The option is there within the LIVE services setup options. If it's missing you would be missing a software update which adds the live menus. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

Need (want?!) a new sat nav - hate the idea and (map part of the) screen display on the TomTom but think their IQ Routes and Live services work well
Will the Navigon Live range offer the same - if so, has anyone used both and compared?
Most important to me would be to route me away from traffic at peak times rather than one off specific jams - although both would be an advantage
Currently use a Navigon 4350 with Freshmaps and a Garmin 765t with NuMaps - reasonably happy with both except the constant pull towards traffic hotspots at peak times
Any advice would be great _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

Anyone with Navigon Live experience know how it compares to TomTom IQ Routes and HD Traffic? Please...?! _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

I'm pleased with Navigon Live, however not ever seeing TomTom's HD traffic I can't really compare and it would be unfair to do so.
Look to see if you can find where TomTom get the traffic info from, as I suspect it's the same?
I know it doesn't really answer your question though _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

Thanks jonandmark
What I am really interested in knowing is will the unit send me a different way at 5pm on a Friday afternoon than 11am on a Wednesday (if there is normally a very busy road / slow traffic) on the one route
Cheers _________________ TomTom Go Live 6100, 600

Navigon do claim that it uses the traffic flow information from the Navteq maps. Can't say I have ever noticed difference in the routing as I tend to always use the 'my route' option which is supposed to take TMC/flow and my driving habits into account.
Navigon have just announced a drop in price of the 8450 and 6350 range. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

And following these price reductions hinting at new developments, I have just seen on their Facebook/Web sites that Navigon are introducing a 'Motion Sensor' function which Quote: | will be installed in selected devices of the NEXT generation. |
So, are we really about to get a new range of models soon?? , _________________ David

Maybe. They already hinted at something the other week with the new 'standard' product naming. _________________ Navigon 8450 LIVE |

jonandmarkuk - you've mentioned german forums in the past for uptodate issues/information - can you point me at any particularly useful ones please? _________________ David
