Here's a quick tip to change the time that the clearturn stays on the screen.

Edit \Program Files\CoPilot\user.cfg

Under [User Settings] add or change the following values. (Keep the fields in alphabetical order).

"ClearTurnViewDistance"=20
"ClearTurnViewDistIndex"=9
"ClearTurnViewHideDistance"=15
"ClearTurnViewHideDistIndex"=3

Here the clearturn screen appears at 20 tenths of a mile (2 miles) and clears at 15 tenths of a mile (1.5) miles before the junction. So is visible for about 30 seconds on a motorway and clears 90 seconds before the junction giving you time to view the next part of the route.

Thanks for the tips!!! Did you see anything in the user.cfg file that will help us set the time for the automatic day/night map switch? Now that NA is on DST, my freaking CP8 keeps switching to night map when the sun is still 30+ degrees above the horizon!!!!!

I don't think these settings are stored anywhere that can be edited.

The usual warnings apply about backing up first and doing this at your own risk.

Using Explore in ActiveSync browse to “My Windows Mobile-Based Device \Program Files\CoPilot”, or “My Windows Mobile-Based Device \Storage Card\Program Files\CoPilot” depending on where you installed CoPilot.

From here drag and drop user.cfg to you desktop.

Open user.cfg with wordpad and scroll down to the bottom. Here you’ll see a section similar to the following: -

[User Settings]
"Backlight"=0
"ClearTurnViewDistance"=20
"ClearTurnViewDistIndex"=9
"ClearTurnViewHideDistance"=15
"ClearTurnViewHideDistIndex"=3
"CoPilotOutOfBoxFirstRun"=0
"DisplayBreadcrumbTrail"=1
"DisplayPOIs"=2
"DisplayTurnRestrictions"=1
"HybridView"=3
"InfobarDisplayType"=1
"InfobarMode"=29
"MapDefault2DZoomRadiusx100"=100
"ProfileIndex"=1
"SayWelcome"=0
"ShowAllSettings"=1

Change the values as described above and save the file.

On your device rename user.cfg to user-orig.cfg.

Drag user.cfg from your desktop back to your device. Close Explore before removing your device.

NB. If you open the Clearturn settings on your device you’ll overwrite the changes.

Thanks for that. The only user.cfg I have in the CP program folder is assigned to TomTom, (I'm also running TT7) so I assume that it's not possible to make the changes ?
ps I also have Kilmist registry installed as well if I could get into it that way ?
