I have an early Leadtek 9531 that came bundled with my purchase of Destinator 1. It is hardwired for my Ipaq 3670.

My Ipaq battery is dying and I am looking to switch this setup over to my Toshiba e750. I am familiar with the use of a soldering iron, but otherwise really have no electronics experience. What I'd like to do is solder a PS/2 connector on in place of the Ipaq 3600 connector, and then I'll be upgradeable for the future. I have no real need to upgrade my GPS as the 9531 has worked just fine for over 2 years.

A local store is currenly selling a sync/charge cable kit with PS/2 connector and plugs for Toshiba, Ipaqs (3800series and up) and a couple others. It's fairly cheap, and I figure I can cannibalize the connectors to create the GPS setup I want. I am wondering if anyone knows what wires to connect to the wires of the PS/2 plug in order to do this successfully.

The cable that I want to use to obtain my PS/2 connection is a MicroInnovations (division of iTRAVEL?) Universal Hot Sync/Charger cable. It has a USB connector on the computer end, and a PS/2 connector on the other (male). This connects with one of 4 PS/2 dongles included with the package - for Toshiba, Palm, Sony, and Ipaq.

I am currently using this as my sync cable for my Toshiba e750 without problems - charges and syncs fine.

Has anyone done this before?

I sent in a copy of this post to Leadtek customer support at gps@leadtek.com. No reply in a week. does anyone have an address to send to that they've actually received replies from?
