I'm in discussion with Inforad. Could I ask for some of the ID #'s for the SPECS still recorded on their release that have been removed in ours? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Are the co-ordinates any use?
The SPECS at Gateshead A1 are gone now, but I can supply the exact locations?

I am beginning to wander how acurate the K1 database is as I am frustrated with the K1 beeping madly warning of over the speed limit with specs cameras on the M6 AND THE M5 in the Midlands,
I have now switched the dam thing off on the motorways and I am beginning to think this was a waste of money.
I only bought this because it used your database is there anyway we can update from your site.

In a word, no
Were these updates for non-existent SPECS? If so, as a result of this thread identifying an issue, Inforad have changed the update process and so the removed SPECS should no longer appear if you update. _________________ Darren Griffin |

UPDATE
As a result of the issues raised here and my communication with Inforad they have now identified an issue with their update process which did not effectively remove cameras from their data release that we had removed from our latest update.
This issue is now fixed but I'd appreciate any comments (having updated to their latest release) if you notice any more issues.
For me I find I can't use my K1 because the alerts are too irritating. The beep is too loud and the all clear takes too long to be triggered.
If the volume could be altered and or the 'All Clear' alert configured to either happen more quickly or better still be switched off completely it would make it much better.
I'll be discussing these suggestions with Inforad. The K1 is a basic device so the options are limited and whilst volume may not be adjustable I'm hoping the other ideas are feasible. _________________ Darren Griffin |

The question is though Darren, if they claim to be using the latest version of the PGPSW DB and they are obviously not, then what version are they using? _________________ Tomtom GO 1005 LIVE

As I said above, they are using the latest data but their import process did not correctly compare our latest data with their master data to identify cameras that needed to be removed.
So whilst you may have had spurious alerts for removed cameras, new cameras were in the data.
Regardless, they claim that issue has now been resolved. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi Darren,
Yes sorry it was for non-existent specs.
But I will update the K1 and start using it again and see what happens.

Darren, thanks for your assistance on this, which I appreciate.

I'm still a touch on the sceptical side that it's a problem that only affects removed cameras. For example, I cited the example above of the SPECS cameras present on A1 northbound at Leeming not being alerted on the K1, but alerted on my Tomtom. This could have been corrected in the intervening period (not been back down to there to check), but it was certainly the case when I posted about it. Were they in the PGPSW database at that time? |
