|
|
We travel to the USA a couple of times a year and usually get a Hertz hire car with their Neverlost satnav system but it works out quite expensive.
I am due to update my Tomtom in the UK and the Go Live series seems pretty good especially for the google search facility - great when you need to find the nearest supermarket/pharmacy/restaurant. However, if we buy the unit in the UK, we can't use Live in the US and if we buy in the US we can't use Live in the UK.
Anyone got any clever ideas please (apart from buying 2 units)?
I would also consider other manufacturers |

Get a UK based device and add plenty of good quality USA centric POI files to the North American map folder then use the POI functions while you are over the other side of the pond - Mike |

Thanks very much both of you - I'll investigate that thought and see how much memory I'll need to have.
We've found the Hertz yellow pages really useful in the past - albeit sometimes out of date - so the Tomtom alternative will probably be just the answer for us and we can update the POI's before each trip.

Even POI files with hundreds of entries are usually quite tiny, compared to say, voices etc.
For example the speed camera database from this site has about 10,500 entries but is still only about 390kB in size |
