...... due to the relative high cost, we were talking about the disposal, lending, hiring, swapping etc etc of maps surplus to requirements. ie having done the Coast to Coast, what is the point of holding on to the card when somebody else may like it ? Anybody have any more thoughts on 'getting the price down?' |

I'm sure there is a section on this site which offers swaps an things like that. For the life of me I cant remember where it is or what its called.. Perhaps someone else can throw some light on it.
Wish you all the best with it. _________________ I can cope with fantasy, It's reality that has me beat.

I think OS might look down on any official solution for hiring out their digital maps. |

Not the same thing, I don't know what particular restrictions there are in the Ts & Cs but they can prevent resale with a licence that permits use by the original purchaser only or prevents hire.
Doesn't physically stop you of course but worth considering.
We don't have any issue with you offering your map cards for sale in our For Sale/Wanted forum.
If you sold at say £10 less than purchase that would be a fair price for your usage? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Following on from the above , I now have quite a collection of Satmap maps. I would be happy to loan, or rather rent, these out to interested folk, but wonder whether or not PGPSW would allow a , sort of, 'For Rent' section as a sticky to which others could offer theirs as well....say for £10 per week, plus some sort of cheque deposit. ? |

We could only permit that if the licence terms did not specifically prohibit it. OS's lawyers are very quick to jump on any contravention and so it simply isn't in our interests to stir up trouble.
If you have access to the licence terms do they mention any restrictions? _________________ Darren Griffin |

I'm sure Satmap themselves suggested using the likes of eBay to sell on maps. This was in a response to someone asking if they could upgrade their maps to a larger one. |

Indeed, no issue with sales adverts here but Hire is a different matter entirely. You can't hire out a DVD Movie legally as an individual and I'm concerned that similar restrictions may apply to OS map data. _________________ Darren Griffin |
