Is there a backlog of POI files to be entered | I don't know. I never see that side of the database. _________________ Richard

OK will have to make and poi set as I happy add all sorts of poi's under 1 group ,but they take so long to insert on the database map I never get round to it ....... So I can imagine how frustrating it can get for you have to insert them 1 by 1 _________________ TomTom 5001 |

@ Andy-c1, there is aprogramme that you can download called POIEdit, that can be used for working with large numbers of ov.2 files. I am not 100 % sure how to use it, but there are probably people reading this that can assist. _________________ TT Go 720 (T)

|
|
I have been reading this thread with interest.
Firstly let me say I am normally very much anti-politically correct but a though occurs with these school POI's.
I can see the need to be warned about the proximity of schools and especially parents dropping their little darlings off (when I was a Police officer I had cause to tell off a parent parking to pick up his child. He replied he wasn't on the yellow zig-zags. No he wasn't, he was parked, waiting, in the school gateway).
enough of that....
My fear is that PocketGPSworld could be accused by newspapers (they'll have a go at anything if it sells print) of giving Pedo's a mapping system of where thay can view children.
I don'y know which way to think about this but I believe it should be considdered and discussed ???

I don't know what the ratio of paedophiles to normal car drivers is, but I would hazard a guess that it is a fraction of a percent. I also do not know how many of them actually own a satnav with PGPSW POI's on it!
By listing banks and ATM's, you could say that we are advertising to all potential bank robbers and muggers as well.
I personally think that all paedophiles should be photographed and that our network of CCTV cameras should watch our schools for this threat. Face recognition software is now available to assist this endeavour.
In the overall scheme of things, they already know where schools are, so this will not really assist them. _________________ TT Go 720 (T)

Very much agreed ,same goes for toilets we letting all the perves know where they are too ,you just have to accept that it's there for the good ,personally for me it's just to let me know where the schools are so I can be extra vigilant when driving by as I do many many miles a day from hythe as far as south hampton and up to the m25 ,I don't stand a chance of remembering them all _________________ TomTom 5001 |
