Connect it to the PC and use Windows Explorer to view the drive letter associated with the TomTom, there should be three bmp files in the root of the device:
antitheftw.bmp
lowbatteryw.bmp
splashw.bmp
Can you see the above three files? - Mike |

Having re-read your first post it sounds like the either the backlight or the backlight inverter has packed up so its not really a DIY repair - Mike |

Hi
The same thing happened to my Go530 and I only had it for five weeks.
Halfords have sent it back to TT. Should be back this weekend will be interesting to see what the problem was it looks as if it is across the range of models.

Guys... Don't forget you do not have to accept a lengthy repair. You are within your rights to insist on a refund or a new one straight away. |

If they haven't got one in stock I insist they ring round to find another branch which has. I've even gone into another branch and got an exchange without going to the original branch first! One Halfords manager brought me one next day from his local branch. _________________ Dennis

Hi
Go530 now back from TT.
They put in new backlight and new battery.
No complaints about repair turnaround but should a unit that was only one month old and only used about 5 times and always run on power need these replacements.

Most electronic gadgets if they are going to fail will do so in the first few months of usage, now its fixed it should work for its expected life, a sat nav is difficult to judge in terms of how long this is expected to be, the battery is usually the first part to fail, but I would expect 3 years from a device thats looked after - Mike |

Hi
It took 10 working days.
I took it in on a Saturday morning so it did not go to TT until the Monday.
It was available for collection on Friday of the following week.
So allowing for travel time (it went to Aberdeen) not too bad.
The screen seems to be sharper so it may have had a fault from the start.
Hope that helps
