Was just wondering what features are missing from the 720 compared with the 740/750. Obviously traffic but what else?? I've got a 510 but liked the idea of getting signs displayed on the route etc. Or has it just got Advance lane guidance and IQ Routes? Is there a comparison table somewhere of features? _________________ Samsung Mega

Obviously with the 720 you can't have the Live services unless you reside in Holland where it is possible to purchase a HD Receiver for use with the x20 and x30 models which gives the device Live services. The HD Traffic receiver is locked to only work in Holland so its no use purchasing one and bringing it to the UK.
Otherwise the 720 is a very credible device, you get an FM transmitter, and mp3 player (which are both missing from the 740). The only slight attraction to the x40 over and above the x20 is the active mount, but again to get one with all the connections on will cost you more as the mount supplied with the x40 only has the power/ RDS-TMC connection on it, I still consider the 720 the best unit TomTom have produced to date it ticks all the boxes although the handsfree audio with the phone isn't too clever, the handsfree on any TomTom is hit and miss with my phones so I purchased a dedicated handsfree kit for the car - Mike
Edit to add:
A 720 running the latest Navcore and map does give you Lane Assist, Reality View (the sign post view on the motorways) and it will use IQ Routes - 2 |

As well as all the things Mike says above, you CAN have "Traffic" on 720 - either the RDS-TMC receiver or the phone-based service will work.
It's only the HD Traffic (part of the LIVE Services) thet you can't have in the UK. |

Thank you for that. I looked round for some sort of comparison chart but didn't find one, thought that there might have been one perhaps on here or Mytomtom. Amazon USA have 720 for $120(£75) refurb so very tempted, my Mum in the States got a TT One refurb for $50(£31), again on Amazon, why can't they be that cheap here!! Thanks again. _________________ Samsung Mega

Be aware that refurbs in North America are NOT entitled to the LMG though some individuals have gotten it on a case by case basis.
Further, refurbs in NA come with a 6-month warranty, not one year.
Just so you know. _________________ David |
