Noob here.

I have iPhone 3GS with Copilot8 on it.

I want to route it through my car speakers and also have bluetooth call answering capability.

Is anyone aware whether the SP700 will do both? I quite like the look of it and it's a reasonable price.

Thanks

Arrived today. Had a short play.

Can play music via speaker or car audio (slight hissing but I assume that can be fine tuned).

Copilot8 on iPhone 3gs plays through the car stereo and calls also routed via car stereo.

For just over £30 I don't know why any other gadget would get a look in.

Brilliant I think.

Now had more chance to play.

Hissing gone.

This does everything I wanted.

Out of interest, why are you glad you paid more for the ioplay?

The iO-Play offers 2 simultanious Bluetooth connections, one for HFP (Handsfree for the phone) and the A2DP (Stereo Audio over bluetooth), this allows the phone and a TomTom to connect to the car kit.

Or when using an iFone you can stream music/ nav instructions through the car speaker system devoid of any interference and you never have to re-tune the frequency to avoid other radio stations bleeding over the frequency you have chosen.

It also supports AVRCP mode which lets you skip tracks from the controller if the device connected also supports AVRCP (the iFone doesn't). It gave me great delight to change tracks on the daughters PPC based phone using the controls in the car when rubbish music started playing (she still doesn't understand why every Michael Jackson track only lasted a few seconds, what caused the confusion was the phone was in her hand with no wired connection, she never spotted me pressing the discreet track advance button Laughing ) - Mike

The iOPlay is simple to install - just plugs into the back of the stereo and needs 5 minutes to run some cabling. Once installed it's powered once the ignition is on - no on / off switch or battery to charge. I can still use my radio and CD player as well as having my TT / mp3 from my phone through the speakers. FM Tx is a nightmare in and around London. I don't have to remove / hide the unit every time i leave the car or remember to take it with me...

I did toy with some of the Jabra range before MikeA posted an article on the iOPlay which convinced me to spend £65 a few days later. Jabra make good stuff - i have one of their BT earpieces - but as this connects via FM Tx it's no good for me as I'd be retuning it every 5 minutes. Same as when i tried FM Tx with my Garmin 760 when i first got it.

I'd be interested to hear how you got on after a week or two though.

More driving done.

Will play music from the iPhone and Copilot8 talks over the top.

Only downside I can see is that you can't listen to the radio whilst streaming Copilot via the stereo.

In this instance you'd use the speaker function of the Jabra SP700 anyway - which is pretty good.

Living in Cheshire I don't suppose I'll be affected by too many radio stations.

If you use the iO-Play it will allow the radio to be interupted by the navigation instructions/ POI warnings, this is one of the big advantages it offers - Mike
