|
|
Beginning to think I am jinxed! Having got a new GO630 (System 8.351 and 830 European map) to replace the One, firstly it lost settings and now I cannot hear the warnings - surely I am not the only one.
In this case I am using computer voice Kate and Liz's speed camera warnings. On the One these would be fine (not using Kate of course) of the same level and very clear. Now I find Kate somewhat distorted compared with the old recorded voice, but worse, when she is set at a normal level I can hardly hear the spoken speed camera warnings at all. There seems to be no way to adjust these voices separately. Has anyone a 'louder' version of the speed camera voices - or do you think I have a device problem.

This is a long standing issue, the speed camera voices are already at their maximum, any more and they will distort. The sounds were pushed to the limit by a professional sound engineer, it would be nice to have control of the different audio levels on the device but having asked for this on a number of occasions I don't think we will be seeing such an option - Mike |

Thanks Mike
Does that mean that not many users have a mix of TTS directions and PGPSW spoken warnings - it just seems unusable now to me. Guess the options are...
Go back to recorded voice and lose roadnames (which is why I updated)
or See if there is any Navcore that has a way to turn Kate down
or Use the new 'speak your own warning' option and get Kate to warn about the cameras too.
Ah well, thats progress!! |

Or complain to TomTom!
The simple reason is that the TTS voices are too loud, not just against the voice pack for the PGPSW cameras, but compared to EVERYTHING else.
Try using a "real" voice and select one of the ordinary sound effects as a POI warning - all is fine.
But do the same with a TTS voice and the warning sound is also too quiet.
I moan at them every few months about it, but nothing gets changed. |

Thanks Andy
I will complain to TomTom as well!
As you imply, it may not do any good, but in my three score years I have been listened to once or twice.
