How can I transfer all my different camping/aires POIs on my 730GO into one category. In fact will doing so help?
For example, when I click on 'find nearest supermarket' I get a list of all the major ones and how far away they are. How I managed to group them all together I'm not sure.
But that's what I want to happen when I click on say 'Camping'. I want it to then list whatever's nearby. I have separate POI files for CCC, CC, French aires and campsites, another lot for Spain and Archie's excellent all of Europe list.
Come towards evening, I haven't time to tell TomTom to search each file in turn? And that brings me back to my original question - how to group these different POIs under one search.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Tim, you need to concatenate the various files in a single POI file for the device, to do this I use a PC application called POIEdit which is very easy to use, try a search for POIEdit or try Here - Mike |

Another good one is an on-line version, http://www.poieditor.com |

Thanks Mike. I have now put a message on the PoiEdit forum asking how to use this software for this particular job. With no help advice except for an on-line FAQ, I can only gather it seems to be able to edit just one POI at a time. And then what?
Here's hoping their not-so-frequently used forum may come up with an answer in the not too far future.

Open one of your POI files, then select File ... Append. You will be prompted to open another file, which will be added to your existing one. _________________ Garmin DriveSmart 50 LMT-D |

I do exactly that, every time I download the verifiers speed camera files. (Sometimes it is useful to have them as separate types, sometimes I want a single file with them all in).
So, the drill in POIEdit is:
"Open" the first file
"Append" the second file and all others one by one.
then "Save as..." the combined file with a new name. |

Then when you've done that you can ask it to find, select & delete any duplicates, then save the results as your one POI category. _________________ TT Go Essential |

Brilliant. Thanks one and all.
I did find that as it was such a big file the 'find duplicates' took more than two hours!
Hey, I've got the result I wanted.
Next I was wondering about a .bmp symbol. What I've done is renamed one of the symbols I was discarding after amalgamating the files to the name as that of my new mega-merged file.
Thanks again

A little late, I guess...
But here's a link to an application that finds and deletes duplicates. _________________ David |
