I was having problems with my phone connection, so I deleted my V3i and reconnected it on my GO 720.
Since then my 'Phonebook entry' is greyed out even though it says it has downloaded the phonebook. I can make & receive calls using 'Recently dialed' or 'Recent caller', but cannot see the phones Contact list.
As it had worked on previous versions, is this a new problem?
Will the Clear Flash tool help? |

Have you tried a reset of the TomTom? |

Yup, already tried a reset (on both GO720 and by removing the phone battery).
Before I try regressing to a previous version, has anyone else got any ideas? |

Use Windows Explorer to view the device contents, open the "contacts" folder then double click the "contacts.txt" file, if present, if its not there then your phone book isn't on the device, if it present it should open and you can see the numbers? yes/ no - Mike |

FWIW, I have two phones, an iPhone and a Motorola Razr. The latter is now used as the car phone, and only has a select set of numbers. When I updated to the latest firmware on the TT740 it had the iPhone numbers, so I asked it to update from the Motorola and it said it had, but the list was empty. Updating again from the iPhone worked properly. I suspect they broke something else while fixing the "no names" bug. Mainly, they just don't test... |

You can create the contacts file manually and put it on the device as a workaround.
Although you shouldn't have to ....... |

The contacts.txt file is present and its contents are correct - but the 'phonebook entry' is still greyed out.
Anybody any ideas? |

Update:
2 things:
a) If I DON'T have the phone connected, I get the access to the phonebook numbers.
b) When I looked closer, the contacts.txt was a year out of date. So I deleted it and tried getting the contacts from the phone again. The 720 says it has completed the download, but no contacts.txt is created.
Now trying a application reinstall as per TomTom website. |

Update 2:
Re-installed v8.351 application - no joy (BTW - why does Home download and install a v7 copy of the application, then have to update it ???)
I created the contacts.txt (using the suggested spreadsheet), and that works.
I really don't want to go back to an earlier version, so I'll stick with what I've got, but this looks like another bug that was not found during 'testing' |

As I recall there was a specific update in one of the version 7 applications that has to be put on to the device prior to installing the version 8/ latest Navcore otherwise it won't work correctly - Mike |
